backwards tuning. . .

Ok, I got the correct .bin and had my truck running. With the cam I have in my truck, I thought the idle was a little low. So using TP I bumped up the idle a bit. Truck wouldn't start after I did that so I went back to the original .bin and it still wouldn't start. Well after checking a few things I thought I might have corrupted the original .bin so I downloaded it again and burned the chip again. truck still won't start. I reset TDC checked the plugs and reset the IAC. I could only get it started once and got it idling fairly well. I shut it off hooked up my light to check timing and it will not start again. I'm at a loss right now. I've checked the following: it has fuel, plugs are good, wires good, dist and coil are good, reset IAC, reset TDC, bumped up fuel pressure, swapped injectors, dif battery, all fuses. It's getting fuel and tries to start every 4 or 5 cranks but not even enough to think about starting. I feel like I'm going backwards. And I don't understand why it all started once and now it won't. Carbs are so much easier. This is just a dif route and I want to get it fixed. Sorry about the long post/vent session. Thanks for any help you all can send my way.

Red face Re: backwards tuning. . .

I am guessing that you have tried multiple times to move the distributer back and forth?
I had a problem with mine and it ended up being one of the plugs at the distributer; one of the spades were bent and not making a good connection. every time I would try to turn the distributer it would shut off! this was frustrating; then I thought I had teh timing set, shut it off and it wouldn't start! Thats when I thought I wasn't getting a good conection for the "triggering" of the coil. So I disconected the wires to find out one of the spades were bent.

Re: backwards tuning. . .

Anybody have any ideas where to start? I'm at a loss right now. And when you burn chips do you lose the ability to use the flashing codes on the check engine light?

Re: backwards tuning. . .

No. If you don't have diagnostic codes, then there is a problem somewhere with the chip (not making contact, installed backward, damaged, etc.)
