I just purchased a 1978 blazer

able to roll or be pushed as if in nuetral.
The truck shifts fine and everyting, reverse works
and all that. any clues as to what the problem is here??
not really big on car repair just wanted me a desert rat
thanks any info greatly appreciated.

The parking pawl inside the transmission is probably busted.

this just happend to me. it when you put it into park its just like its in nutral. but it will still go into park if you push it into park from the tranny by hand. how do you adjust the shifter. and it wont go into first gear either.

Your describing an issue with slack in the linkage. When the linkage gets loose it won't have as much travel anymore and doesn't go to the far reaches.
