Re: Chevelle tear down + rebuild!!
Just ordered my new radiator setup. Very nice indeed. I'll post pics when I get it.
Also meetin with a guy tomorrow that has some parts left over from restoring his TWO 1970 Chevelle's. One's a convertable and the other is a real LS6 SS car. I'm definitely taking my camera.

You got it. It's been pretty beefed up, but I'd really like to find a built 700R4 to get the extra gear for the highway.

Re: Chevelle tear down + rebuild!!
So Saturday I go to meet up with a guy who has some Chevelle parts. I knew he had good taste when I got there and saw this in the driveway:
I think he said it was a 96 with a big block.
He got even cooler when I got into the garage:
1970 Chevelle SS LS6 454 He also has a 1970 Chevelle convertable black with white stripes/top that's in the same condition as this coupe. Amazing cars. Very nice guy. Turns out he's on the Chevelle forum that I'm on too.
Picked up an a like new radiator core support with the brackets that mount to the frame and grille, bumper brackets, bumper fog light assemblies, hood latch/release mechanism. He even threw in a pair of fender extension/head light housings that he didnt need any more. Got it all for $200!!I'll get some pics of the stuff later.

I was thinkng that too. If you think about it though, I made it to 32 before I had an accident in one of my vehicles. Not bad. I know alot of guys that didnt make it past high school.
I just happened to have two this year.

Re: Chevelle tear down + rebuild!!
I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but whats the specs on the engine? What cam are you running with the Vortecs?
Please let me know if you decide to upgrade the plug wire looms. I need something like those, just not new so I can powdercoat them.
Thats a nice car, and I'd look for a new frame. Chances are that its twisted throughout the whole car.
Good luck. If I were closer, I'd be wrenching on it too.

If you mean the engine that was in the car, it's a remanufactured 350 crate motor for an 88 IROC Camaro. Not sure if they do any more but Pep Boys used to sell brand new replacement crate motor's. This was in about 96. I told them I had an IROC so that it would come with the newer style heads and a roller cam and lifters. Got just the long block minus the fuel infection. Threw on a 600 Holley, a Performer intake, Accel HEI Distributor and 1.6 roller tip rocker arms. When I put on the Vortecs I switched to a 670 Street Avenger. The cam is still the stock one. Very strong motor. Lots of torque. I'll have to find the dyno runs I have with it.

I probably will be running different looms when it goes back together. I'll let you know when I know for sure.

Re: Chevelle tear down + rebuild!!
I was just reading in the local classifieds today, there is a person that buys Chevelle parts. Not sure if they'll sell anything. I can dig up the number if you like.
Thanks for keeping me in mind about the looms.

Re: Chevelle tear down + rebuild!!
UPS left me another present
A guy on the Chevelle forum has a business up in Michigan making performance and OEM aluminum radiators for most GM muscle cars. www.alumitechreproductions.com Great guy, very cool to deal with. Highly recommend him for any one with a muscle car.
He gave the members on the forum a $100 discount for Christmas. Perfect timing for me!! I got a really nice aluminum radiator with built in trans cooling and twin 11 inch electric fans!!
