My 98' Build Thread
Cutting up my previous d/d. So far Ive only removed the oem garbage but that was a job by itself.Taking my time.Thought I would share.
Heres how it looks sinse I stripped it down.
havent figured out how to load multiple photos from the bucket.Posting 1 at a time is annoying.

Re: My 98' Build Thread
What all did it take to put a carbed v-8 in it? Is it still the vortec block and heads?

Re: My 98' Build Thread
All you need to do is paste multiple IMG code lines from photobucket in the same post.

Re: My 98' Build Thread
Old school TH350. The inside is totally gutted cept for wheel and seat, pedals, shifter. I have a Painless musclecar kit for it. Dont know if itll handle the airride wiring.Air management is so far away I havent even thought about that.

Re: My 98' Build Thread
You can run seperate wiring for the air ride. I am thinking about going carbed on my vortec. I want to keep all the a/c and heat and stuff, but get rid of all the computer **** under the hood. The only reason I haven't made up my mind yet is cuz of the whipple charger I have on it.

Re: My 98' Build Thread
I would in no way ditch the factory fuel injection....what would be the reasoning behind doing so?

Re: My 98' Build Thread
yea, MUCH more efficient with the EFI...can get more performance potential out of the factory EFI as well...if you are dead-set on it staying gone, go with a $1,500 Holley Stealth-Ram injection system and get some real powah out of that beast...i'd run a built 700R4 behind it myself...that way you have OD for freeway cruising and no computer to run it...

That's easy to do. My dad and I took a long block 5.7 out of a 98 (warranty claim for piston slap) and added an Edelbrock intake and carb. Ran perfect.

Re: My 98' Build Thread
I went carb cause most of my other vehicles are injection.Hell, everything is nowadays! Its going 2 b a basic Hotrod. Besides,,the truck was a 4.3/4L60E before. Carbed motors just have a certain sound that I like.
"Layindoor",,,Dont know what 2 tell ya.If it were me,,I'd keep it like it is and just reroute all the wiring and try and clean it up best u can. F/I is nice.

Re: My 98' Build Thread
Nice.
On my 91 stepside I am keeping the factory tank hanger under the driver's side and am mounting a gel cell right there. I too plan on using the painless musclecar or street rod kit and just reroute a distribution block for the air from the new battery location.
I feel your pain drilling that spare tire holder out. When I finally got mine off I did the mexican hat dance around it.
