Sfbd started! 89 rcsb!!
Hey fellas. I've been talken about bodydropping my truck FOREVER now. Well we finally started the teardown last week. We work on it a couple hours a night 3-4 nights a week. We just got the frame out from under the truck tonight. 1st off we gotta make it lay out (apparently it didn't when i got it from the shop). But were fixen it now. We'll be tubbing for 22's and clearencing for transmission and accessibility. The whole truck's getten rewired and painted with a new motor goen in it. Should be rollen and in paint by march at the latest. Hopen to have it done before march 17th! Which is a month before my bday. Anyways, here some teardown pic's we haven't started cutten or nothen yet but figured i'd throw these up here to show yall whats up. Well let me know what you guys think! Later josh!

Re: Sfbd started! 89 rcsb!!
Thanks man. The tie rod wasn't notched it was just cut out. So we had to fix that. But anywho... got the cab off and bed off (that cab is a HEAVY SUMBITCH!) Should be picken up some steel friday or saturday. So we'll actually start cutten then. So that'll give us some time to make it lay out. Can't wait tho, it should be a whole lot better looken by the time show season starts up!

But those are pic's of what it looked like before and during. Will post more as progress is made!

Not much to update on tonight. Brandons worken on tubbing the firewall soon. He's also started on the control arms. Next day or two we'll be dropping the front frame horns. Then friday we'll be dropping the new rails in.

As for as for your question wagonwhat: It's been pretty easy. The front end came off pretty easy core support bolts were a bitch and a half (never been out before so they were a lil rusty). Motor was a bitch to get out cause of all the crap (useless crap at that attached). Beds easy to get off. The only real hard part was all the wiring and dash pieces that need to come out (well i am replacing it with a sheet metal dash so it had to come out). But there's nothen real hard about it. Besides the cab. IT WAS A BITCH AND A HALF TO GET OFF! TOOK 6 OF US AND IT WAS STILL A BITCH! But it's off now. So yeah cab pain to get off. The rest pullen stuff out off or apart was fairly easy. Hope that answers your questions. Sorry for the rambling.

I'll have more pic's up asap guys! Thanks for the comments and interest in my thread! And if you see anything wrong with the progress or got any helpfull advice i'd love to hear it. I can take criticism so don't be afriad! I'd rather get told i ****ed up rather then find out the hard way! Thanks fellas. Updates comen friday night at the latest!

Re: Sfbd started! 89 rcsb!!
wow... you are going to do an engine swap, rewire it, a sheet metal dash, complete paint job, and a stock floor boody drop in less than two months??? Just my opinion, but builds like this take time, and if you try to build it on a deadline you'll end up cutting corners.

1978 short wide - chopped, bagged, shaved.

Re: Sfbd started! 89 rcsb!!
No i'm not cutten corners. It's all getten done over time. But thats what all is gonna be done before it gets back to driving again. It's a bunch of homey hookups more then anything. I've got a guy worken on it (roadfool up there) when i'm not there. I'm collecting parts and maken arrangements for the paintjob. Were in no rush. Theres no deadline as to when ricky (bodyguy) needs it. Just setten a goal to be completed or at least be to a certain point in the build. I'm just tired of it being primer and since it's already apart the new motors goen in it. The trucks getten painted since its apart. Maken a new dash since we gotta put something in there and the stock one will be useless. So it's all stuff that needs to go back in to be driveable. Just kinda worken on one thing at a time. Till it's done. We don't expect to be on the b/d that much longer. Were not getten crazy with the frame. Just b/d and painten it. The motors ready just gotta put it in. So it's all kinda realistic. Or not haha! It'll get done eventually!

Re: Sfbd started! 89 rcsb!!
Hey guys, well sorry for not updating.I've been busy. Anyways, haven't got to many pictures really. But an update none the less. Picked up the steel monday afternoon 24ft of 2x4x3/16 114$. Well we started measuring, and measuring, and measuring... Finally we cut out a piece of tubing and ran it inside the frame, we got that close of a cut on the first try. We were stoked! So today i picked up a bunch of clamps and misc tools. So now we can start welding in the new rails tomorow night ( have to open tomorow so were not worken on it tonight). But i'll update more progress pic's to come tomorow night thursday mourning sometime! Thanks guys, later!
