Project thread:'52 Chevy(56K killer)
Heres my new project. Its a 1952 chevrolet 3100. Plans are to lay on it the fenders/running board with a modern powerplant and suspension. Today I worked through the rain to get the truck torn down so the cab can be lifted off the chassis, and all the parts and sheet metal stored while I do the frame...heres lots of pics of the tear down and parts...
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() parts pile... ![]() ![]() ![]() Front end gone... ![]() ![]() should be tucking lug when its all said and done... ![]() ![]() ![]() the guy I bought the truck from decided to weld the bed together, so I spent some quality time with the saws all... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All I need if the external stake pockets off this bed...so I can make a new bed out of some 16 gauge... Anyways, the cab will come off friday or saturday, and all the parts will be put up for a little while. Im ordering the front suspension tomorow, and the rear 4 link either tomorow or Friday, so this project should move pretty quick hopefully. As long as theres enough interest I'll keep this updated, later ![]()

Re: Project thread:'52 Chevy(56K killer)
Cool project! These trucks look pretty sweet laid out. Are you going to keep the front clip or go with a Mustang II front suspension? I've got a '53 5 window myself. One of these years I'll get started on that one. Definitely keep us updated on your progress.

Re: Project thread:'52 Chevy(56K killer)
Thanks guys, yea Im odering a Scott's superslam IFS tomorow, which is mustang 2 based...the frame is already cliped with a '78 malibu front end I think. Its poorly done, I dont see how a rad. or core support would ever be able to be used...much less a front bumper...
Im not going to be doing this much longer out my driveway...I just got the truck Sunday, and I have to have it completely apart down to the frame at my Dad's shop by Friday so I can go get my new frame Saturday. I just took everything off the frame but the cab today so I can bring all the parts to my Dad's shop tomorow, then Friday all I have to do is bring the truck on the trailor to my Dad's shop, and lift off the cab.

Re: Project thread:'52 Chevy(56K killer)
2275...it was an ebay find. Truck was described as being rust free, but I knew it wasnt. Its what I expected it to be, and worth every bit of 2275 IMO. I didn't need an engine or trans or a running and driving truck...all I needed was a cab and front end...which I got

Re: Project thread:'52 Chevy(56K killer)
Well I did lots of planning today, like with the bed and such. I need to clear it with the "boss" but I think Im going to add 2 inches to the height of the rear fenders and lay 20's. Then extend the heigh of the bed 2 inches to keep everything looking stock. We will see...
I did pull out the makeshift braking system, the wiring "harness", and the column today. Cab got loosened up and is ready to be lifted off. Tomorow it leaves my driveway...

Re: Project thread:'52 Chevy(56K killer)
haha, yup...I need some ideas....how much of the orignal frame do you have? Did you have to build new body mounts? I need to figure out how far Im going to drop my rails to get them level or close to level with the running boards...and how Ima build the new body mounts...
What Im thinking is after I mount my scotts front end to the "new" frame, I can put the core support, front fenders and running boards on....then lay out the sheet metal and measure the frame...then after I build the new frame I can do the same(setup the core support, front fenders, and running boards) on the finished frame...then set the body on there spacing it up so it matches up to the front fenders, and measure-build my body mounts...I think this way will work...

I don't have any part of the original frame. My truck used a modified G-body (monte Carlo, Grand National or grand Prix). The frame was set up (w/out bags)when I bought the truck. My frame is tucked up a few inches from the running boards and the running board mounts extend down from the frame simular to the stock frame. Beacuse of how my frame kicks up in the back I to had to raise the floor of the bed 2". The only place that it gets tricky is at the tailgate. The rear cross sill holds the boards at the back. When to raise the floor you need to recreate some sheet metal to hold the wood. I would be have to take any picks that you need to help figure yours out. [IMG] [/IMG]![]() [IMG] [/IMG]
