Tahoe to Avalanche build
I'm building my 97 tahoe to look like an avalanche by cutting the roof and cargo area and making it into a bed. i've already airbagged it and shaved all the handles. im keeping the barn doors for the tail gate but shave the hinges and tail lights. I've also got an 03 front end for it

Re: Tahoe to Avalanche build
cant wait to see how it looks. i think if you do a slope to the rear like the avalanche it will look better then the ones ive seen done in the past. also cant wait to see how you shave the hinges i would love to do that to my hoe.

Re: Tahoe to Avalanche build
today i put the hinges on the driver side. I had to cut the area around the tail lights to put the hinges.

then i had to cut the pocket in the door.

after that i welded in the pockets and plated around them to reinforce the door.

now the door swings on the new hinges.

the last picture is a little dark because i just finished it tonight. tomorrow i will do the other side. normally you would't put the hinges that close together but that is where they would fit inside of the tail light filler and because i'm cutting the top part off it will be fine. but even with the whole door on there right now it is still pretty sturdy.

Re: Tahoe to Avalanche build
i finished the other door a few days ago and today we broke out the sawzall. I tried to take the glass out but it was easier to break it after about 20 minutes of cutting the glue that held it in.

we started cutting the rear pillars firstand then we cut the tops off of the doors

then we cut the roof

then the roof came off

So you want it to look like this or do you have something different planned.
