Re: interior / underhood getting redone
just some random shots. i redid the heater box thing/ duct. i took it all apart, cleaned all the funk out of it, bleached it, and made sure there were no broken connectors any place on it. new heater core, repaired the broken motor arms so my vents will work properly, and put it all back together.
![]() ![]() i also epoxy'd the old holes there for the AC so i won't have air blowing out there. my heat and vents should work so much better now! ![]() ![]() thats all for now. i hope to be getting the wiring set tomorrow, monday, and tuesday, and welding up some holes that are in the firewall.

Re: interior / underhood getting redone
well, no new pics after this weekend. i only worked on it today for a few hours. i finally figured out where to stuff that stupid LT1 computer. it will sit on top of the fan behind the glove box, and will just fit after removing teh stock computer. go figure.... it's THE only place behind the dash that there is room for. i yanked out all the guage wiring , and proceded to tear out the factory harness..... only to realize that after 3 hours of stairing at it... that it had to go back in theres jusst no way i can see of running that inside the cab and welding the holes up. theres nowhere to put all the relays and power blocks that are under the hood. sigh,
i was sad to say the least. i have miles of new black loom. i will do my best to make it look nice and neat, and reintall the black wire cover thingy, and hopefully make the best of it. i can however clean up the wiring for the engine harness and the guages, and that will be done hopefully next weekend. once that is done, i can weld up any unused holes and silicone my heater box mounts and make that firewall watertight. after that comes the sound deadining, the stock firewall matting, and i can put it all back together and hopefully never ever have to touch those wires again. hopefully mid to late may i will have the dash back in and i can start on the fun stuff. :)

i know.... they are different sizes, but there's just enough room to stuff it in there, :) also... i was re-reading your thread, and i plan on recesing my guages too.... i have the idea in my head, just not sure if i can make it happen :) it's going to be my biggest glassing adventure to date if i can get the design how i want it :) the rings you made on the printer, are they going to be for the "lip" of the guages to sit on, or are they fot the back of the guages, so you can screw the guage down?

This may seem far fetched and may not even can happen but can you mount those relays and dist block under the kick panel or on that side of the firewall under the dash? I ditched the idea of recessing my gauges.. I was going to use exhaust tubing to recess them in the dash, but im just going to keep them how they were. I ended up using the circles I made on the printer as guides for my plasma cutter when cutting out the holes for the gauges.

I've recessed my gauges that way (exhaust pipe), and I wrapped some thin rod around the gauge to form the "buckets". Then I tacked those on to the ends of the exhaust pieces, and welded them flush with the sheetmetal.

Re: interior / underhood getting redone
nice.. My plan was just to use plastic rings I made at work where you used thin rod. I was gonna use body glue and call it a day.

nope,i have speakers going in there :) they will stay under the hood for now. i can make it look ok i think :) a little update. i've spent the last few weeks searching for ideas that differ from the norm, but ideas that are not tacky :) i still can't decide on my exterior color, and thats slowing down my progress on my interior plastic pieces. i am 90% sure that i want a black top and some sort of red on the bottom, something clean and classic, that will still look good in 20 years. i need to save a little bit more for my speedo and tach, but i'm getting autometer procomp stuff to match what i already have, and at some point i will change the bulbs to led's to get the look i want. it's just too much money to get all new guages again. i put the interior on hold for the past few weeks until i decide on what seats i want to use ( i have 3 sets, and didn;t like them all well enough to use in the truck. lol) i guess good things come to you when you wait don;t rush. i ran into a friend that is a mini trucker and we got to talking, and i snagged these. ![]() ![]() ![]() late 90's acura tl leather / full power on both sides. they are really dirty and dusty in the pic, but should work fine. and they follow my thoughts that i've seen in my head for years. i got them for an excellant price, and i couldn't be happier. now i can get to work on the seat mounts this weekend, so i can get the carpet in, and get the firewall and wiring all tied up. so much thought goes into every step because i just want to get it done once, and be done with it :) more pics after this weekend hopefully. nothing worth taking pics of at this point :) EDIT he has another set of tan seats, jsut like these, in better condition, for an amazing price. just wants them gone. if you are near CT and willing to come get them, LMK and i will give u his number

Re: interior / underhood getting redone
i'm going to have to take pics of everything (hopefully tuesday) and bomb craigslist and here :) at least now i can get rolling on my interior. tuesday i should be over to get the firewall soundproofed and put back together, and get started on designing the seat mounts. make a list of the things you want to sell and i'll take pics of them as well and put them up. just leave it in my toolbox or in the cab of my truck.

Re: interior / underhood getting redone
a little more progress. i've been thinking about how i wanted to do my dash a lot ove the past few weeks. i don;t want to get to far away from the stock look of my interior as far as the dash area is concerned. i already had some existing procomp guages in there before, so i decided to save a few hunderd bucks and just complete the set. afew 2 long days of changing my mind, i came up with a pretty simple design, similar to what we always see.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() everything is just set in there temp with foamboard so i can see if i like it. originally i ripped off low88's idea for the air guages, but after starting it, it didn't fit what i was looking for. doesn;t matter anyhow. i broke all 3 of them after a nice fall to the concrete 5 feet below. now they are all spider cracked. /sigh so... looking for new ideas on the air guages. really thinking hard at a digital set up now. no more air lines.... comments welcome, if you have a different idea on the guage placement, post up. i'm open to ideas

Re: interior / underhood getting redone
the hu being the stereo or the heater control? the heater will be in an overhead console, the head unit will be either where you see those 3 guages in those pics (i broke them, so i nixed the idea) or in the center console.

Re: interior / underhood getting redone
it cleans the 20 years worth of crud off my interior parts.
i'm using parts from 3 different trucks, 2 of which were not well maintained and have mold and filth on them.

Re: interior / underhood getting redone
Dude, you can have that piece for the dash that I glassed for my air gauges if you want. It needs some work, but its savable for sure. It is doing nothing but being an ornament in my moms house.
