interior / underhood getting redone
this has long been overdue.....

the interior on my truck has always been trashed. it was bought in florida and the dun dried out all the plastics. i've decided to start the interior on my truck, and make it pretty. this project will take me well into the show season, and i hope to be done for carlisle in aug. from what i discovered on my first day, i don;t know if i can do that.
i will also be fixing the little motor gremlins at the same time, and finally cleaning up the crap under my hood. it has never looked nice under there either.
this is gonna cost me some bucks, but i plan to take it slow and not get ahead of my bank acount this time.

this is how the truck sits as of now. been sitting for close to a year, only driven rarely, only started every now and then. a sad state of affairs.
been focusing on paying some bills off first :)

under the hood

note the nice rusty headers..... glad i paid extra for the ceramic fail ass coating.

Re: interior / underhood getting redone
after almost a full day of fighting with the interior, i got it stripped.

this is NOT me... i don;t know who did this but... well...see for yourself

yeah, that was my seat mounts.. yeah.. nuff said .
there was 3 bolts in one of them, and the other was loose. good thing i never got into an accident. i'll have to remake those.

the same person who made the seat mounts must have carved out this nice hole in the heat ducting. so instead of me heating my feet, i was heating the back of my reciever.

lucky for me i have a spare... heck i have 3 spare interiors. this is the new "fiberglassing" area i built with larryB in my basement. a little tight, but all i have is 1/4 the basement to call my own.

thats all for this weekend. next weekend, i will be installing the new heating ductwork thing, new heater core, bleaching the cab interior, (there was a lake under the carpet. god only knows where that came from), and welding some of the firewall holes shut. i will figure out how to do the wiring over then too.
i can only work on it sundays, mondays and tuesdays. look for updates then.

Re: interior / underhood getting redone
Sweet. Nothing like a little makeover! You putting any kind of sound dampening back down in the interior? I need to pull my carpet back out and lay some down cause there is alot of interior noise with mine. Also if you need any pictures or help with running the wiring I can help some. Good luck man.

Re: interior / underhood getting redone
Just a few ideas for ya too. You can cut the stock distribution block in half and use it as switched and constant power.
I had to lengthen some wires in order to run them all up there but just make sure you solder them and it should be fine. Makes for a clean bay when all the wires are hidden and ran to one point that has the plastic cover over it.
Also since Im using the Camaro harness I have enough trunk on the harness to run it into the cab right behind the glove box. Just need to make a filler plate to cover up the opening some.

It can be done! lol

Re: interior / underhood getting redone
god that seat bracket is awful. it took me a sec to figure out it was still in the truck how did that even keep the seat from wobbling?

Re: interior / underhood getting redone
the engine bay was an eyesore from day one. it always got on my nerve.

auburn, the seats did wobble. i knew the mounts were bad when i bought it, but i never knew how bad. i think the stock mounting holes are still in good enough shape to reuse, i will run a tap down there to make sure.

91blk- thanks for the ideas. i really would like to relocate everything on that side of the firewall into the cab. even the distro block. i haven't figured out where to mount everything yet. any pics of how you have your computer mounted?

ben- if ya look close you should be able to see the tons of white tape on there, :)

Thanks man! I would like to have a fleetside bed too to swap out sometime to se what it would look like but not getting rid of the whole truck anytime soon.

Dont have any pics yet but ill try and get some soon. I didnt even think of putting the distribution block on the other side of the firewall. Thats a good idea. May do that sometime. Also want to do trailer fenders someday and put the batteries in the back along with a fuel cell. But thats way down the road.
