Nice job on the valve covers BTW. Mine are a very similar color.

Its fine and I like the classic 350 also but to me everyone has one in these trucks so I went a different direction.

Lets don't turn this into a 5.7 vs 5.3 debate here go start one in the performance section or just post something new in the 40 former ones...

While i agree the 5.7 vortec is a good motor, the 5.3 IMO is better. Much easier to get performance gains from it. Hes throwing a cam in it and some heads. It will no doubt make more power then a 350 of the same build. newer technology etc. Plus its not as common. Something you can say hey, I have a 5.3 in my 97.

The 5.3 WILL NOT MAKE MORE POWER, more PEAK HP maybe, but not more power OVERALL. Power over the entire curve is what moves these heavy trucks. I do like the technology in the 5.3 though and respect it. His 5.3 might suit his needs very well and is what he wants. I hope he dresses it up with the LQ4 engine cover or something though.

For right now the valve covers will be it, I am concentrating more on just getting it installed and working and later will come back and make it pretty. I do have a cam on the way and it should be here any day now so I can put this thing back together.

Thats cool. Are you going to put in a stall. The Trailblazer converter is very popular.

Re: LM7 in my '97
Did you get the harness done yet? If not may I suggest FIS, Fuel Injection Specialties give them a call. They did my camaro harness, which was a 305 TBI in a 92 that I swapped for a 96 LT1. I sent them both harnesses and got one sexy labeled one back. Plus they can do reflashing of the pcm for any tunning for you. Just my 2 cents.

Also, I like the 5.3 swap idea, that motor gets great MPG:Horsepower ratio

Lil update, ordered my new pushrods and a tranny cooler last night and picked up a set of 1.8 roller rockers tonight. Going full roller . Found out it will be 2+ weeks waiting on my harness though.
