Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build

I plan on switching out the tail lights and headlights etc to smoked ones. Those are the ones that were on it when I got it. Here is some pics of it today after alignment. How do my cv angles look now?

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build

Here is some pics from the bumper build from today. I had to cut 9 5/8" out the center.

I grinded down to about a 45 on the edges to weld it together.

This is after the second pass with a mig welder no gas.

Here is after the final pass, I will grind this down smooth so it doesn't look like I chopped it down.

Here I was getting ideas on how I will mount it, I've got to build the brackets out tomorrow hopefully I have a idea but figured I would sleep on it.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build

For the front bumper what size and kind of driving lights do you guys recomend? I need to get some soon so I know how big of holes to cut out. I also can't decide if I want to do a bar on top like a brush guard or just one like the one in the photo that was cropped for me.

Here is the cropped photo.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build

Back bumper came off a desert military humvee. I got for the most part the brackets cut out today hopefully fri I'll be able to get that welded up and maybe start primer and paint.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build

Not my Suburban....but building a bumper/bull bar isn't too difficult.
I had to fab one for my little Suzuki Vitara.
I started with mounting a decent piece of RHS to the back of the car using the original rear bumper mounting points and then just sheeted it with diamond plate.
Hope this gives you some ideas!

Here's a shot of a typical 'Aussie style' front bull bar.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build

No my bumper did not have those bolts like yours. My wheel caps are in the garage one broke I have to fix it so I just took all of them off. So here is some pics from today. I need some input on what to do about the top I have one piece of plate cut that goes from bracket to bracket and will cover the gap between the frame and the frame itself. I don't know if I want to do that or cover the whole area. What suggestions do you guys have? I also through a pic up from mud riding yesterday.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build

That's a big ass gap on the top of that bumper, you should cover it with some diamond plate or something.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build

I am going to try and get the nerf bars cut back where I'm rubbing and painted black tomorrow and get that piece welded up from bracket to bracket and maybe get the bumper primed. I also want to paint that red piece by my rear doors back black. I have some wiring to fix for my trailer lights and I have to come up with a way to put my license plate. I will post pics up as I get them.
