Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
I think I might look for one I hate the whole ash tray having to be open to charge my phone. I was thinking about making something that hangs out like the ash tray to put my cb's in and add some 12volt outlets but might be more work then its worth.

I know man, that's why I mentioned the smooth bores of the Ford intake spacers. If he gets that spacers hogged so the "vortex" part is removed it may actually be slightly beneficial to the engine's lower-rpm torque and throttle response. As to why would one want to disturb the smooth airflow, well actually under certain conditions a turbulent flow actually delays boundary-layer separation, thus reducing friction drag and the loss of kinetic energy that follows it. I know it sounds a bit counter-intuitive, but it actually works. Now, whether you wanna create said turbulent flow right smack between the TBI unit and the intake runners is a whole different topic...

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
Ok so I got my new tail lights in today and installed. The old one is the one sitting on the bumper. The new ones are not as smoked as I thought they would be, however I like them. They are different and they were cheap. They fit so much better than those ugly ones I had on there before. I'm so happy to have gotten rid of them. I also did a little decal on my hood.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
Ok so my wife and I have discussed the option of buying a small travel trailer so I'm gonna have to fix some of the issues with my truck and upgrade some things to make towing better and safer. I'm unsure on what the weight will be probably not much nothing crazy like 13k but I do want it to be able to pull and stop and ride good. So I made a list of some of the issues that I need to address for not just towing but to ensure my truck is good to go.
1. fix the dash from where the bolts cracked the plastic by windshield from rough ride.
2. I read about using thicker gauge ground wires for the electrical so I'll do that.
3. Replace the AC controller and get AC blowing cold.
4. Do a 6" suspension lift so my truck doesnt ride like hell. SAS to costly right now.
5. Replace or rebuild transfer case.
6. Add a trailer brake controller.
7. Install helper air bags so it doesn't sag.
8. Upgrade Brakes
the rest of the rest I want to do eventually
9. rebuild or replace motor maybe upgrade open for good affordable options.
10. rebuild/replace 4l60e tranny
11. swap 10bolt rear end for a 14 bolt 6 lug.
Any input or advice suggestions I would really appreciate it.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
Honest opinions?
Swap out the 35's for 33's, Trailer brakes, airlift rear, Big brakes in front, NBS disks in rear, and a gear swap/14bolt.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
I'm looking for a 14 bolt gonna check a few places sat. I did find 2 454's from a 95. One is complete everything with a recently rebuilt transmission. Price 800 bucks for both motor and trans. The other one has 30k since it was rebuilt still in truck runs good he says and he will pull for buyer everything included for 700, unsure about tranny on that one. I just came across these earlier so I'm gonna check into them. Both my motor and tranny need to be rebuilt or replaced 189k on odometer.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
What is hydroboost? How do you like the whipple? 350 or 454, and what kind of mileage do you get with your setup?

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
Hydroboost.

A very easy swap to gain MUCH better braking performance.
I have the 350 (at present) and have no idea of mileage. LOVE having the Whipple on there.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
Well the 454's I found are sold but its cool I don't have the cash at this very moment. I wish I did cause I need to get the ball rolling on this. So I was looking at affordable options for the motor comparing rebuild cost to replacement and time. I found on ck resto a pretty good deal that appears to be my best option for cost and time. What is you guys take on this motor with the specs they show? I know that some have changed there cams to different ones for towing etc should I do that with this remain or is the way the remain set up is good?

Once I have some cash in pocket I'm gonna go check the local yards for tranny, and rear end. Nothing has come up on CL for that anyways.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
Any idea on how big of tires the 4" pro comp lift will allow? There is one for sale on CL off of same year suburban as mine, I called and its a salvage yard so they don't really know **** except they said its a 4" lift drop in front and unsure on age of lift and unsure on brand of shocks. They are asking 600 for it and he has no idea what size tires was on it originally.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
a 4 inch lift will do what you need it to depending on backspacing but thats a high price for a used lift, you would be better off spending 900 on a new rcx.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
What would you say a fair price be if lift apears to be in good shape. I don't know over the phone age of lift and shocks so I'll have to go look at it to get a idea.
