95 suburban 4x4 build
Ok so far I have put the skyjacker lift on and a few other various parts i.e. optima red top battery, head unit etc. Now my near future plans include fabbing front and doing a cam swap. I'm also reading up on swapping my rear axle to a 14 bolt. For the front bumper I want to build similar to the fab four design and for the rear similar to there design but I want to fab a split swing gate. One side to hold a spare and the other to hold fuel can etc.
I plan to use 3/16" think steel for the bumpers unsure on what I will coat the bumpers with, bedliner product I guess then I will probably paint over the coating with some DTM from Shermin williams black paint.
Also if anyone has any recommendations etc I'm all ears.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
Imo no truck needs a bumper that bulky. Looks like a second chin on a fat chick. Build a slim/trim bumper that doesnt look like you tried to over-do it.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
Ive seen a 12.5 tucked behind an OBS stock bumper
It will work, he has plenty of room behind there to tuck a nice sized winch.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
Search for "quadkid" you may like his bumper build better than the one posted. Otherwise...looks like you're off to a good start.

if you dont have a press brake to do bends, thats a lot of cutting and welding

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
I may use 1/8" instead of the 3/16" and I do have a press brake here at the shop. I found quadkid his bumper looks pretty good, I would like to see a bigger photo of it.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
Something like that would be best used with a good welder, plasma cutter and then smooth the welds with a grinder.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
I've got all that here also once I begin the actual build of it I will figure out which method I will use to build it. Either way I have the stuff for it. I just have to get the sheet metal and I'm waiting to see if I will be able to get this warn 8k winch. Also I'm unsure on what lights I will use in the front and in the rear bumper, but I do want to put some. I like having those square foglights for back up lights that I have mounted on my rear bumper currently. I also like the fog lights I have on my brush guard but I am thinking of switching to a different style. I also haven't decided if I want to run tubbing on top the bumper to protect the grill. I don't care for some of them on some trucks. That is why I was thinking of the style like I posted the pic of.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
Would this be a good cam for my truck?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevy...mZ350097722450
I've been told that the RV cam is a great cam for the 350 giving it a little more power and slightly better fuel mileage.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
Ok so I haven't started the build yet but I just about have all of my material to build my front bumper and I got my hands on a rear bumper from a military humvee. I will have to cut a section out the center to shrink it to fit the width of my burban. I also thought of having it stick out a few inches and boxing the top and sides in more than what it is so it doesn't look so skinny and gives me a better platform to step up on. I will post some pics once the fabbing begins any inputs I'm all ears.

http://www.fullsizechevy.com/gallery...cat/505/page/2
Here on the galley there is a few photos of the truck, but I can take some soon after I wash it of the lift. I forgot to mention for the rear I also added in addition to the new leafs 2" blocks I wanted it to not sag in the back. I also have been told by the 4x4 shop here in town my torrison bars are worn out so if I had newer ones it would probably sit a 1" or so higher since I can't crank them to where they are supposed to be. The passenger side is screwed all the way in and still sits 1/2" lower than driver. My wheels have a little negative camber because I can't get it higher at the moment.

Re: 95 suburban 4x4 build
So I got my alignment done today and it's amazing how good the suburban drives now. The only place I rub is a little on the rear side of the fender flares and a little on the nerf bars but I'll trim those back some this week. I'll post a pic of the cv angle but it looks pretty good a lot better than what it did look prior to the alignment.
