Widebody building
Well here's what I started with, a '92 K1500 with a 97 frontclip wich had already been lifted. As thats the way 90% of all suv's and 4x4 vehicles around here are thats no good so this one is being dropped and bagged
![]() ![]() Unfortunantly I didn't have the camera handy while I was removing the lift. running boards and the fender flares but thanks to them the fenderlips had all but dissappeared from rust Started cutting a big part of the fenders away and welded up the new flares, I have pics of them somewhere in the other computer and will add them when I find them. Here they are in being smoothed out ![]() ![]() ![]() First coat of filler on them, still have a little work to be done to the bodylines but it a better images of how things are going to look ![]() ![]() Nex I removed the floormat and interior in the back to fix some rustholes I noticed from underneath ![]() ![]() I'm planning on having the airtank and valves inside the trunk, where the spare tire resided, as our roads are covered in snow and salt most of the year I'm having hard time deciding if I'm going to build a 3-link or a 2-link for the rear. I'm not aiming for much side to side action but okayish ride quality would be nice Bags and valves will be arriving from the states next monday ![]() |

Re: Widebody building
Looks good. IMO I would have done something to smooth that top edge on the fender.

They still need a bit of work. As most of the lines in the body are pretty sharp I felt the edge had to be like this to help it flow with the rest, also I'm probably getting a hood with the 442 scoops wich have very similar lines as the fender flares The fronts will be the same but will both extend a bit onto the doors and follow the bodyline above them |

Re: Widebody building
Made some progress today.
removed the top rails, welded holes shut and painted the roof last weekend ![]() Cutting more of the floor out and seeing it has more rust than I like I decided that I will cut out the entire rear section along with the back half of the frame and build a complete new piece. It's a lot easier making something from scratch than makes some thing nice from this crap ![]() |

Re: Widebody building
Started building the new frame today
Here I'm just checking how things are going to line up, and you can better see how horribly rusty the rear of the frame is It's just weird how bad the frame and floor from the rear axle back is, while its all fine and dandy up front ![]() Backbones of the frame, still have a bit of gusseting to do but yeah ![]() |

Re: Widebody building
Right on!
Theres a sub somewhere on here that is lowered and has prerunner glass fenders and Im pretty sure the rear is flared too. Im going to have to agree that your bodyline is too sharp, round it off a bit like the factory dually/stepside fenders if you can? I envy all iceland rigs....Love the huge tires and HUGE fender flares and old man aluminum running boards. Must cost ALOT to have parts shipped up there? ![]()
