Re: 04 Chevy Silverado Ext Bagged

Here it is some progress.....

A friend gave me a Front air damn...Another one gave me a tailgate...

Thx Jerry And Ant......

I cut out the Old tailgate with extreme hate for it...and its warped distorted self.....

Can you tell....LOL

AND NOW look at the truck.....

This brought up another lill issue... Gate wont shut with plastic trim on it.....Because the extended bed rails.....

Thought about it for a min....Do i really like them...
Can they be fixed and made to look good....
NO they warped the whole passenger side and they need to come of for 2 reasons 1. Fix the warped bed.....2. they are rusty, maybe if they painted it would be different....but I killed 2 crapsman angle grinders in like 30 min worth of grinding...... Is that not what a grinder does....
really dunno....Anyway here is the carnage....

Re: 04 Chevy Silverado Ext Bagged

Not really sure.... I was thinking since the bed is hacked so bad maybe just running it till i find a good deal on a virgin bed...
probably tack in some fenders just to support it up....

Dunno what the guy was thinking maybe clearing 30's dunno but yea that cut is WAY too big...

Re: 04 Chevy Silverado Ext Bagged

What I did today.....

Finished hacking out Ext Bedrail.....The Bed is pretty jacked up...

Looking Up tward the cab you can see the rail dips down...

I figure since I will be running a Bed Cover that will hide allot till i get a new bed....

This is a REAL clear view of how the bag setup is done...
I need some suggestions on how to correct it best with the gas tank back under the truck....With of course minimal work and cost.

Re: 04 Chevy Silverado Ext Bagged

Remove and replace that forward c-member and do a triangulated(BOB),(weld on) 4-link and move the shocks to the outside of the rails.About $400 for the link bars,$75 for some tubing and the rest is labor.I would spend an extra $200 and switch to an aluminum fuel cell, since youve gotta redo things anyway. Looks like a good starter.

Where would you put the fuel cell.... Under the truck stock location or inside the bed..... I do have plans for a blow thu sub system so just behind the cab is not good place for one i will need all the airspace i can get to the C-Notch....

Re: 04 Chevy Silverado Ext Bagged

You can run the tanks in the factory tanks in the stock location on these trucks thats would i would do instead of a fuel cell and i would probally start with a new fresh bed

Re: 04 Chevy Silverado Ext Bagged

wow the more i look at this i dont even know ha i would cut out that forward c member and replace it with a backward facing or straight one andfab up some mounting brackets to fit the tank right in front of the notches in the middle imo that would be easiest...do you know if the guy u bought it from did the work himself or whats the story behind this truck

I would put a cell between the axle and the end of the frame. You can always put the stock tank back in its location but will still need to mod the mounting points to get it up some.

The guy bought the truck drove it for about a year stock then got a wild hair to bag, Shave, and Everything else....

He started with intent of a 6 link w/panhard like a KP setup but ran out of time/money and just did rear lift with 2 link and panhard....

He was a Welder in the military so all the welds are good but he had only bagged another truck with a buddie before this one...
So his setup is just not what experience brings...
After he started and finished to a point of running lines and setting up valves/tanks/switches he was deployed to Iraq then came back split with his wife was deployed again....
Came back, and moved to Kentucky...
One of his buddies Moved into the house, needed the shop so he pushed the truck outside....Instead of getting hauled off...

Its NOT Terrible! but Deff Confusing and needs to be corrected to be right..For the money I could not go wrong....

It is In need of some serious TLC and a few changes yes....

Remove the bed and you can get a better idea of where to start.

Re: 04 Chevy Silverado Ext Bagged

These were FREE! Some Dude Gave me some rims$Tires for a Pontiac G6..
I could Not find a good use for the tires since they were too big for my talon...I went out to the used tire shops looking to trade and scored these..... A Hell of allot better than the Stockies painted black...and measure the right size for my final wheel tire combo when i do 22's...

I already have a plan to fill the Nissan logo in and paint the little logo black....I might bust out the dremmel and make em into chevy logo's....
