At the end of the day its a decision only you can make so make it carefully. Truck looks good.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm not a big OOBS fan, I've seen few that I liked, but I still prefer the 88-98 over all body styles. If I was worried about the difficulty, I wouldn't be thinking about this project at all. I'm also not worried about cats. I haven't had them for 2 years now, and by the time we get inspections, it'll be exempt anyways. With a project like this, you have to build what you ultimately want. I want a pro-touring 88-98 RCSB, so that's what I'm gonna build.

Agreed. You want what you want. I think the OBS trucks have the smoothest body shape of any fullsize GM ever made.
Have you checked out protouring.com? Some great builds over there. Most are cars but you can get some good ideas for suspension setup. OBS Hotrods FTW,Carry on!

Re: Grant's build thread

Everything you've got in mind sounds great, except for one. In my opinion, and in my practice, I would avoid the 18/20 combo. To me, a 2" wheel stagger on a truck so short looks out of place. That's why I went 19/20 with mine. The other thing is that most of the 18/20 combos I've seen can't seem to get the tire sizes right. They end up with front tires with thicker sidewalls than the rears. So, you have a 2" stagger in wheel sizes, but a 1" or less stagger in overall tire diameters. It just looks goofy. I have a 1" stagger on wheel sizes and a perfect 1" stagger in overall tire diameters too.

So, if you DO decide to go 18/20, I humbly request that you at least try to get the tires right.

I know exactly what ya mean. I might go 20/20. 19" wheels are fairly hard to come by , but I love your stance and wheels setup.

This is true. And 19" tires are a bit pricey too. My 245/35-19s were actually more expensive than my 285/30-20s. But, I didn't want 20s all around and I didn't want a 2" stagger.

Re: Grant's build thread

Alright, there will be kind of 3 stages to the truck's progress, so I thought I'd post up some "before" pictures of the first two stages.

Stage 1. The day after I got the truck. March of 2005

Stage 2. (current)

Stage 3. Stay tuned.

Re: Grant's build thread

Alright, Drew (finally ) got some pictures of his wheels taken for me so I could do a little photoshop. I'll probably be picking the wheels up fairly soon from him. Here's what I came up with.

....and yes, I put the amber corners on there on purpose. I'm getting sick of these piece of chit clear ones, and I'm kinda diggin the stockers. Other changes to this pic are a 4/6 drop, wider rear tires, and the stockish appearing led tails. It's not the best chop in the world, but it definitely gives me an idea of the potential. What does everyone think?

Wow man you really cleaned that bitch up from when you first got it! I am liking it with the stock ambers too because it gives you more of a stock look but in a good way.
