Oh Gawd! Not another Blacked Out OBS

Hey guys, here is what I have been up to:

I originally purchased the truck in the spring of 2002. It was a Georgia truck and completely spotless except for the factory silver paint that was falling off. I drove it until August when I decided that I would start removing what was left of the truck's paint and repaint it myself. Well, that was overly ambitious on my part being only 17 at the time. So, it sat and then it sat some more in it's halfway taken apart state. Long story short: life and lack of interest and motivation got in the way. I finally started working on it again this past August.

What I've got so far:

1991 Chevy C1500 Silverado Regular Cab Stepside.

5.7L with a K&N replacement filter, plug wires, B&M shift kit, Hedmann
440's ceramic coated flat white into 2.5" 18" glasspacks with 3" turndowns

Belltech 2" Lowering spindles

3" 'djm' springs that had to be cut down so that the coil ends would line up in the pockets correctly- now it is about a 6" drop in front

Summit Sport truck shocks in front

Custom made flip kit- custom plates, spring perches from o'really's, u-bolts I had from another project

Belltech 2" shackles

Belltech rear swaybar (not installed yet)

20" steelies with 245/35/20 in front

What I need to do next:

8" notch (just ordered it yesterday)
Mount rear swaybar
Order rear shocks
Rear tires
Cut the bed for the notch and then close it in
Install the headers
Finish the body work - everything is shaved except the gas door
Paint will be a single stage satin black
Burnish the chrome smoothie front bumper
Have the front end aligned-might get an energy susp. kit first.
dynamat or fatmat the interior twice over
install the new-to-me two-tone camel and black interior
finish the seat brackets for my dodge rampage turbo bucket seats
install the rear solid glass
faux wood bed
figure out a rear bumper and taillights- I'm thinking 60' truck rear bumper flipped upside down

after all that I'll work on making the interior and engine compartment pretty

One day I'll bag it that is why I am going with the 8" notch now and have the rear wheels widened to 10.5". They are 7.5" now.

Sorry the only pics I have on this computer were crappy cell phone pictures.

Oh yeah, I need to get a 94+ GMC grille. I got a set of hard plastic door panels from a Sierra GT and my original grille is broken so I might as well convert over to GMC.

I'm working on pics. The wheels are not 5 on 5. I had to get adapters...not something I am particularly fond of but I really like the wheels. My machinist is going to sleeve out the adapters so that they are hub centric.

Edit for pic

Re: Oh Gawd! Not another Murdered-Out OBS

You should try to find a set of spares from the nnbs trucks. Those spares look slick!

Nice looking project!

good excuse to put a 14sf under the rear, and the front is just a rotor swap away. not hard to do at all.

Re: Oh Gawd! Not another Murdered-Out OBS

They probably are, I'm not sure. Still, they look slick enough to make up for that "shortcoming" I think.

And Tim, they are 6-lug, but he's already running an adapter...so why not just run a different one?

Re: Oh Gawd! Not another Murdered-Out OBS

Well, I already have these wheels and I am set on them. If I did a 6-lug conversion I would do it the correct way w/o adapters. I'd have to get new lowering spindles too since my truck has the 88-91 light duty rotors.

Ok I promise I'll start using my digital camera from now on.
Here is the passenger side header installed-notice the piece of 2x4 between the frame and cab. Nice trick if you happen to have the fenders off. No need to remove the starter.

With your white socks and black orthotic shoes.

But yes, it blacked out will look good. Before you get too far along, you may want to check the tech articles for doing the OBS 6-lug conversion... I'd have to agree with the others that the NNBS 17" spares would be pretty sweet on an OBS like this!

Re: Oh Gawd! Not another Murdered-Out OBS

All I have to say is:

20" Steelies > 17" Steelies

I don't care what lug pattern, although it would have been nice figuring out how to convert to 5x4.5 w/o adapters.

I am so white that I didn't even know that 'murdered out' was a ghetto term.
