well at this point the teacher really hasn't told us. Competition's the 8th of May, but next week we'll be able to study for it, since me and my partner finished our brake lab assignments over a week ahead of the rest of the class. I'll know more next week about it.
As far as the truck, we've been cleaning out the garage to make things more workable , and getting ready to go dirtbiking like he said But it should be much easier to do more faster after this weekend.

If this project turns out half as nice as that 2500HD you guys resurrected, it's going to be awesome. I can't wait to see the results.

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
keep me posted on the skills competition. i hope you do well.
i made state for both Ford AAA and VICA my senior year, but missed both state comps due to being sick.
i know all about finishing stuff early. i took a "transportation systems" class as kind of a blowoff class my sophomore year. the teacher paired me up with a kid who built his own race cart motors, and i had been tinkering with any gasoline engine i could get my hands on. we almost got kicked out of that class. the instructor wanted to take a week and a half to disassemble and reassemble a B&S 5hp engine... he was mad when we had ours down to a bare block and a pile of parts within 15 minutes, though he did allow us to reassemble it, and fire it up the same day. can you say teacher's aides for the rest of the semester.

Thanks, so do I
As far as having to miss those comps, I'da been ticked.
But it feels good to be done early this time, cause when we tore down the supercharged 3800's, I had 2 parters, 1 didnt know anything but would help, and the other has actually since been kicked out of class for doing nothing but talking to other groups
Atleast my partner now knows a bit, and is very eager to help/learn.

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
Sorry, been really busy. Got the rockers off, cab corners off, and gonna sandblast and primer the underside of them today.
Competition over with. Took 4th in my class, only one from my school to place. It was a MITES competition at Calhoun Career Center. Won 1000 dollar scholarship to Baran Institute of Technologies.
Just fyi.

nice job with the competition, how was it? Anything you found difficult? Sounds like your making progress, little bits at a time

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
There was some stuff we weren't prepared for. This was our first year going, so we didnt know what was going to be in the skill tests.
I knew most of it, but There were some fasteners in the fastener ident I hadn't seen, we had to use a new site for data location I'd never used-I'm used to alldata-. I was surprised I didnt place in the Safety inspec and written test.
I dont know exactly how good I did, but they'll be mailed to my instructor. Still happy I took 4th, considering all the other kids that placed were in specialty schools. Should do better next year, even though I'd be going a year early
But thanks. I fell out of it cause of the comp and family stuff, but I'm headed into the swing of things again.

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
a sizeable little update now
rockers and whole undersides + back are sandblasted and primed
inner fenderwells were rusted, so areas are cut out and patch panels ready
bottom of bed blasted and primed, 2 fender rusts cut out and patched
4 day weekend coming, lots of sanding, welding, cutting and fixing to come with it
Hopefully, fingers crossed, bed'll be in paint week after next. My tails and most likely my Dad's 03 tails will be too

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
Well we hit some snags with bodywork we had to re-do from a shotty repair job after my dad had been hit (not his fault). But the bed is, we believe, ready for paint! Just waiting on our guy to come through with the paint.
So now, we're working on finishing the passenger side fender well, repeat on the driver side, then affix cab corners and fix those up.
Then find a driver fender/door and maybe a pass door. Fix up some cab dents, possibly some interior work
We're trying to figure out a way to run the fuel filler from behind the bumper to the stock tank. I'd have to do a 3" BL and lift the bumpers, and drop the tank 3" to gain any kind of fall, and still lose about 4 gallons. Thats all I can think of, rather than moving the tank, which would be very hard too.
Any suggestions/ideas?

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
im alittle confused as to why you want the filler location changed. all i did for mine was add the extension piece into the stock filler and that was it. Is there more to this than i know?

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
Well, I just thought it'd be kinda cool and different. I was thinking of shaving the door handles, and thought that might look good along with it. I think I'm going to stick with the handles only hah

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
pretty good update here, sorry its been soo long, family stuff and it fell to the wayside.
Got my fenderwells patched, drilled and undercoated
Passenger cab corner reinforcements/replacements in
Pass rocker welded in
Pass cab corner welded in
We thought the bed was ready for paint, but we may have a feather-edge issue with it we may have to fix. Other than that, it's ready for color
Got a driver fender off a 2-tone yukon. Idiot had rattle canned it black, so I've put alot of work into making it ready for bodywork on a few dents
Pass fender I had is all sanded and ready, have to shave antennae, fix a few spots
And a craigslist find! I bought a Mankin brush guard off a guy for 100 bucks, all it's missing is brackets, which are easy to make. its only got rust in a few spots from hardware, but its only surface. I took the rubber strips and lights off. the push bars are bent but will easily straighten. Paint it black, hopefully someday rhino line it

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
I had pics but I left the camera at home
but the bumpers are fully blasted and primed, had to throw a layer of primer on the wheel well area of both fenders, and back portion of bed. I spent this morning sanding the fenders
cab corner/rocker for pass. side are finish welded and ground, as well as a tricky patch panel for the rear of the cab.
hopefully the reinforcements, corner and rocker for the driver side will be matching by tomorrow's update when I have pics

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
My sister and her 3 boys came over yesterday, so less progress than hoped. But, driver's rocker is finished and ground as of now, but I didnt have time for a pic
Also, I got the fenders ready for their second coat of primer- in attempts to smooth out bad paint lines- and the antennae out. Tried our best to pound out some bumper dents to no avail.
I'm gonna sand the bed's new primer, and maybe finish the rear cab sanding, along with any grinding of the reinforcements/cab corner we get done. We're having issues with the windows on the 03 not coming up, so thats priority

tricky cab back (yeah, we know it looks hacked, but that was alot of work, and looks better in person-besides, its hidden )

finished corner

New primed stuff, before fenders/back bumper was sanded
