That color matched bumper looks....DAMN GOOD!
My chrome silvy bumper rusted out and I threw a plain bumper like that on my truck until I could find a decent chrome one.
Now.....
I'm not so sure I'll go back chrome.....only thing is, the chrome bumper on the Silvy package has a nice filler strip to cover under the tailgate built into the step pad. Kinda hard to give that up.....

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
well, today is the day we think we can get it in paint. if everything goes smoothly, we should be able to do it soon after I get out of work at 6.
Sorry I dont have any pics, been not so good on keeping up with that.
Tailgate's fully shaved, just need to ship down the hardware for paint.
The bed still has a little sanding to do, because we've been using ultra high build primer, which is great for fill, but it takes 4 hours until you can properly sand it, which had really held us back. But I got it about 75% sanded before work today, and it wont take long to finish, plus the bed's been removed of all its hardware
The front bumper is actually fairly well worked also. It's not done, but it's alot farther than what is was
The garage has been masked off, cleaned of, lighted up, and ready. everything needs a final washing and a quick roughing with a scotchbrite pad, and to be set in place for paint.
The biggest obstacle is going to be weather. It looks like it wants to rain, which would shut us down if it's a good rain. But if not today, for sure pint tomorrow

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck

(blurry)
Paint! It looks sooooo good. It laid out soo well. So far, there are no runs in it whatsoever. Gas door was painted too, but no pics of that
The tails are a little redder than I'd prefer but they still look great. Some spiderlike cracks, but I believe it'll sand out
The gate, you can't even see the where the handle was, it's very straight. Looks great.
Everything looks amazing. Thursday I'll begin sanding, and we'll tear everything down and mock up the left side, and begin right side bodywork. When I finish wetsanding/buffing the bed/gate, I'll begin sanding down left side primer.
My hood came in! I dont have pics of it yet, because it was stormy and I had to pack it away for safekeeping. I'll be primering it, guidecoating it and sanding it soon

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
well today I busted down the garage, had to give everything time to fully cure. Untaped the bed, etc. Mounted up the tails- well, 1 really, have to get a way to fix the missing screwholes in the other- and got the gate on, and started sanding the drivers side. Got the rubber stops in the gas door in, and 1 bolt into the door hinge, and I need to get the other
The card reader was hidden on me today, so I dont have pic. I'm extremely pleased with how it all came out, except for a total of 3 spots on the passenger side where paint peeled. We're unsure how we want to fix it
We're either going to sand the side down again and try and get it in the next session, or take the airbrushing kit I bought for my gf and mask thosw areas off and just get them. I like option 2 better
I have a double shift today, but most of the drivers side and the tails should be sanded today
Plan is to have the driver's side of the cab mocked up and roughed in on sunday, then he'll start on the passenger side while I tidy up the driver's.
Pretty quick here we're looking at a paint session for my door jambs, hood, grill, and maybe a fender or two, or roof. Some compilation of those may be done next weekend.

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
Your project so far looks good man. I like seeing people take the time to rebuild these 88-98 or any chevy trucks for that matter. Good job!

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
aiight, progress has been slow lately. Busy with family most of the weekend, so not alot of progress there
One another note, I had one of the best nights ever at the Saving Abel, Papa Roach, Hinder and Nickelback concert last night! NB played a 2 hour set
Today, I got th tailgate don, and the driver's bedside 85%. Got myself some bed bolts, and tally'd what I'll have to to to fix them (drill 2 new holes, fix a support rod, and the 4th is in).
As for the other side, we're going to try and repaint from the upper bodyline up. If that doesnt work we'll have to reshoot the whole bedside, which is something I want to avoid, but is also the reason we're not sanding that side yet
Also, got the new-found drivers door holes patched, and hopefully have it skinned tonight. Still on track for the driver's side mocked up by this coming sunday
EDIT:
Looks good to me! Sanding the tails at work in the sink

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
thanks guys, seriously. It's a big motivational tool, seeing it all shiny like that
Tails are sanded now lmao. me, sitting at a picnic table in my lawn at my work, with 2 tails, some 2k paper, and a watering can, watching the cruise cars go by before I knew it they were done!
I got paid $7.50 to sand tails for an hour

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
thanks guys, it means alot. When there's people you hang out with that have no idea about alot of these things always like "you're STILL working on that?" its kinda annoying
Not alot of progress due to the cruise in town, but I'm fine tuning these spider cracks I found in the tails, and the door is skinned and is being glassed/bondo'd right now. Gonna get home and work on the new list in the garage.
I think it'll be good and done and sanded/buffed by school. Thats what really matters

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
well, nothin to really post pics of, but the bed is full sanded for buffing on one side, and the top rail is ready for re-spray on the other.
Tails are completely sanded, one's mounted, and I'm currenetly fabbing brackets up to fix the broken mounts on the other
I got all the rocker support arms on the bed re-mounted, and to replace 1 arm and drill 2 holes.
Got the gas door mounted, and has to spraypaint all the new arms and bolts black
Last on the current list is to gut my old door and get inserting it all into the new one.
Also, at some point I need to scotchbrite the wheelwells and spray undercoating in the, cause they have alot of primer overspray, etc in them
Just tryin to keep clickin along

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
Thanks Drew, I had the same thoughts for a long time
I did some touchup sanding, vaccumed the remainter of what's inside the truck (metal and bondo dust from the rockers/cab corners), and took the incorrect stickers from the inside of my donor door. Couldn't gut my old one because I cant quite get it out the back of my garage.
Gonna move both doors out so I can gut the one and begin the skinning process on my old one. Left side of the truck is together. Have some gap issues below the beltline, one from the cab corner, and the other door/fender (issue with the door)
I have some pics, maybe I can get them up

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
Well I got my old door gutted this morning, despite church last night and having to be up until about 4am.
Biggest issue was that with it being a power everything door, I couldn't get the window down, which is a big part of the procedure (that, and I've never done this before and I was working alone )
Also, the gapping issues are fixed and it's all primered, the truck flipped around so I can sand all the primer and work on swapping the door inners while he works the passenger side.

Driver's side hung and straight, almost done. Needs some work on the fender, idk if you can see the circled bad spots by the nose.

Gap fixed

cab corner gap, pic's a little crooked but we think this is set too

Door at 12:45

The cat was checking my progress on the door

Door at 2:20
Going to tear into the new door tonight, should be much easier because it's a manual door and I've already done this once
