Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
Good progress. How come you to cut the skin off that door though?
I dread gutting my doors and interior when its time for paint. I too will be doing cab corners and rockers soon. My doors are fine thank goodness.

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
the outer skin? One, so I could get a better idea of what I needed to do and what what going on, cause I haven't done this before. But the other was to make it wayyyyy easier, when you have to take the window off the roller track and such
And doors are probably the harder of the two, because you can't find good ones around here, and if the outer is gone, it usually means you have to patch all in the inner, which sucks worse.
On the 91 or 06? I thought you painted the 91 in your build thread?

Nice work! Coming along nicely.
How much lift do you get with that in-floor hoist?

I really like that satin black. It's still great in black, with the satin look to set it apart

Thanks man.
well, ~7ft. It wasn't fully up, and it was easily 8-10 inches above my head, and I'm 6'1", so take it as you may.
We can't get it any higher than a few feet, not even high enough for us to sit under any of the trucks on a stool comfortably. The only thing we can really use it on is the Z28, which is good, cause it needs a new clutch
But we plan to concave the ceiling after my truck, so we can get alot more height when lifting one of the trucks. Best part about it is it can lift the Dmax, which not all the lifts we saw could. And it needs a new Ally
But this afternoon
Got the new door gutted.
Pass door ready to be patched, blasted it-and the relocator kit too.
Got my tail fixed and mounted
Took out my 3rd brake light
Found all my bad spots on my roof
Tomorrow
sanding on the roof
blasting of some areas on the passenger side
other random stuff
Edit: whew that was long!

And about 30 million^10 fewer Asian import cars.
And I'd extend that to their makers too, but supposedly that's not nice to say.

Are you for real dude? The more I read the more sarcasm I can see lol. But if you mean it, wow man, thank you. I just try and do what I can for as long as I can, since I only work 3 hrs a day, I have lots of time.
Not to get mushy gushy, but I owe alot to my dad, keeping me pointed in the right direction, and doing the hard stuff like body work

Can't say I've seen the commercial, but if she's anything like the ditz she played on that TV show she did years ago, can't say I'm too afraid.

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
Hey man its looking good, thats some excellent progress. It looks like you will have it in paint in no time. And i'm just wondering how did you get the window down in the old door? I need to get the window down in my new door and since its off of a 95+ the plugs are different so I can't just plug it in to the truck to roll it down. I was thinking of just trying to hook up a battery to the motor to try to roll it down but im not sure if that would work.

You'll probably fry the window regulator.

I did it the dirty way. Since I couldnt roll it down, here's what I did.
Follow the instructions in a haynes manual (if you dont have it, get it. amzingly helpful.)
after you get everything loose EXCEPT the window from the black panel. Then tilt the door back, and pull on the black thing while holdin the door. It will slide, and be fairly hard, cause you're essentially pulling the window down. Take your time and be careful
The panel will come out, then you can roll the window roller wheels out, freeing the window from the black panel. Then, it should be close to where it'd be rolled down.
then just wiggle it out
hope that helps. it was a real PITA

Thanks man. Sorry for the boring read atleast it was short
Thanks on the props on the dmax, I remember you were in the build thread for it. And yes, I am his son lol. I told him we need to put them together when they're done for a sig pic (maybe even the Regency Yukon and 96 Z28 Too )

Re: 94 ECSB Overhaul, first truck
Ok so your saying once you get everything loose just pull the black panel and window out at the same time sorta? Thanks for the help. I think I will pick up a haynes manual, I was looking at one in the store yesterday, but I didn't get it. lol
Hey btw about how much hp does your 383 have? I love the 383's. I have been contemplating putting one in mine, either that or I have a 355 with 350hp sitting in our shop that needs a rebuild.

You're right, it will work, but there's no fuse in there to control the current... and if you don't control the current, something will get hot, very hot. And melt. See, all those wires run from the fuse panel, and there's something like a 15 or 20A fuse under the dash just for those accessories.
For anyone wanting a little more info on the power window regulator and lock panel thingy remove, once it's all unscrewed and such, it just takes a lot of wiggling. My dad did his two doors in his parts truck, and he had no idea what he was doing. Just be patient, and gentle, but use a firm hand. Should take you under 5 minutes once the black panel is completely unscrewed. And don't forget to remove the two rods for the power locks. It's a total pain in the ass otherwise.

Yeah of course there is no fuse, but you aren't doing a permanent install either. Use some jumper wire to the motor and touch the posts on the battery. Reverse the poles to reverse direction.
If you are that worried about having a fuse, just wire a fuse into your jumper wires.
I have use this method on hundreds of window motors, linear actuators, power seats etc. and have never melted anything yet.
Actually the power windows run off a breaker not a fuse.
