Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009
The transfer case doesn't weigh that much, so unbolt it, slide it off, put on cardboard or creeper and roll/slide it out from under the truck. Thats how I got the old 261 out and put the 241 in 4 times (stock location, clocked 32 degree, 12 degrees and finally at 22 degrees. Transmission... make a stand/bench/table... be creative I guess like bonedust said.

transfer case is light. when i changed the transfer case in my truck i put the truck on a lift and pulled it out while it was above my head... transmission would be interesting tho.

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009
Yeah, I was just sitting on a block of wood under the truck... When I shipped the 261, it, the wood crate, and packing together weighed 101 lbs.

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009
Drives like a big truck. Its a bit stiff with the new springs and no rear shocks. Leans/dives in corners without a sway bar up front, but that may change.. Best overall aspect has gottta be the hydro assist steering. Going from a 6+3 on 36s with stock steering to crossover w/hydro is a night and day difference. The 99 w/36s actually steers easier than the 04 stock w/265s.

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009
Awesome to hear. Whats next for the truck? Maybe even a black bear tune or something might help. I am just curious were in WA are you? My old roomate lived in seattle for a long time. Said its a crazy city.

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009
North Bend, WA... last real thing before the Cascades going east out of Seattle.
The truck already has a Wheatley Custom tune, GM Hot Cam, etc. etc. Next plans are to pay everything off and save up for the 44s and ARB air locker for the D60. After that... long range would include an engine swap (LS7 (427), 468, or 496), transmission swap (Allison, 4L80E, etc), and maybe a transfer case swap to a NP300 divorced case.

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009
I summarized all 34 pages so far into 4-5 posts in the offroad section if interested in seeing the entire build without all the speedbumps, sidebars, waiting, etc...

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009
I flexed it pretty good tonight, but to dark for pics. I pulled up on the hill next to the house... front passenger tire was about 36" higher than the drivers, while I was able to get the rear driver's side tire to rub the rear of the fender... I didn't think that I would ever dream of touching the fenders with 36s. Passenger's side rear was off the ground and grass was wet (didn't want to tear up the yard) so I needed 4x4 to back it off.

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009
Thanks. Pics turned out pretty good, but I should have turned up the resolution a bit. I kinda forget about the scenery around here (get used to seeing it everyday) but it turned out really nice. We just got our first snow this week.
Also learned that one cannot load up high arch lifted springs like those of stock springs... Full load of wood swung the shackles all the way back and had to "reload" the truck.

Looks good. Can't wait to see it with the tires on it.
BTW, gun in the back glass, did you plan on killing something?
