Two questions.

What you doing with the 6" lift?

Where in WA are you hiding. Wouldn't mind checking it out once it's done, or even while it's in progress.

1. Going to sell it.
2. North Bend

Mike is actually very interested in seeing your truck, since his lift is going to be similar. Mike will be out here in 2 weeks, so maybe we can meet up sometime.

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009

Quick update... got a little crazy on ebay tonight.
In addition to the rebuild and gears, I also bought 1410 yokes for both the dana 60 and 14FF. I think I might have said this eariler, but going with Tom Wood's driveshafts. Front will be a multiple double cardan and back just a double cardan. Should help with the angles a bit.

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009

Cracked open the other NP241. Besides the SYE, this thing is trashed. There was no oil in it and looked like it might have gotten full of water at one time. The chain is shot and the sprockets have broken teeth. Still not bad for getting a SYE for $60. I called JBConversions, and I can get a new bearing, seal, and a 1410 yoke for $15, $10, $120 respectively. I will have to look for a 1410 yoke for the front of the case, but I have the option of swapping output shafts... the case going under the truck is a 98, while the one that came with the SYE is out of a 93. So, I have both the flange and the yoke to choose from. Which ever is easier/cheaper to get the 1410 yoke for.

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009

Being busy with school I haven't had a whole lot of time to do anything on the weekends, but I've gotten a little bit done. I took the carrier out of the Dana 44, and I have it all sandblasted and painted. After debating how I wanted to mount up my front spring hangers, I think I have finally settled on a design that has some gusset plates on the sides to strengthen it a bit, as well as a cross member. I leave for Seattle a week from today, so after that I'll have more money so that I can start to make more progress on the swap. This upcoming weekend I am finishing up modifying my axle shafts to take full snap rings instead of those miserable C clips, as well as finishing up sandblasting and priming the backing plates/caliper mounts that I got off the 10 bolt front end.

Pics so far:

Good looking design. Did you check to make sure that you won't have to cut the bodymounts?

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009

What I planned on doing was notching them out, then sliding that front outer gusset piece up in, then welding it all together, so my body mount would remain more or less intact, and I would have the added support on the bracket. All the parts are to be cut out of 1/4" thick rectangular stock, to simplify fabrication. I may have to have the rear hanger pieces bent though, but I need the shackles first to determine the width. I'll get those first when I get out to Washington, as there will be some lead time on fabricated parts.

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009

The guy I bought the 14 bolt 1410 yoke from sent me a 1350...b@stard... so I have to send it back. I did get my dana 60 1410 yoke. Here is a picture to show difference in universal sizes...
L -> R 1410, 1350, 1310

Junk...

I am keeping a few spare good parts in case the 241 and the 39.5"+ tires don't get along...

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009

So, I don't think all of my stuff to finish the 14 bolt is going to come in (thanks paypal), so the only plans for this weekend is to make the truck into a big 2wd... blackknight is gettind the 1/2 to 3/4 cv adapters, so the cvs are coming out and while I'm at it, the entire front diff is coming out too. Anyone interested in a 1/2 on front diff with 4.56s that will fit 88-06?

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009

My truck is just a 2wd with a transfer case. Tonight, I pulled the cvs and front differential out.

Looks kinda naked up front

Re: 2 SASes 1 garage... Summer 2009

This not getting any parts and not getting any work done this weekend is killing me! Detroit will be here tomorrow, gears and rebuild kit on tuesday, and the 1410 yoke for the 14FF when the guy gets the 1350 back that he mistakenly sent instead of the 1410. I ordered front and rear stainless steel brakelines this afternoon, and I'm talking with Jason at KatKustoms for his crossover steering kit.

I have stubshafts. After breaking three 1/2 ton cvs. I have spare parts. The only thing holding the stubshaft on the axle shaft is a little snap ring. Cut the rubber boot, pull off the snap ring, and you're set. Great info if you ever break one.
