Well, what I really want is a 78-79 D44. I don't know much about anything older than that, but I know the 78-79 has the high pinion, 32.5" spring width, and the 10 bolt outers will bolt to it. Thanks anyways though.

78/79 Ford HP D44 have the cast wedges. I'm still lookin into how I can remove the wedges w/o screwin up the axle so I can link my other truck... With the cast wedges, if you cut them off you actually cut the 'axle tube' and leaves a big hole

What wedges are you talking about? AFAIK, with an F250 D44, there's nothing at all I will need to cut off or weld to the housing.

Ahhh missed the F250, so probably leaf sprung already? Mine is out of a F150. Uses a radius arm set up and the arms attach to the axle on the 'c-wedge'

Oh, ok, I'm looking for one out of an F250 since I'm keeping leaves and teh 32.5" spring width that the F250 axles have. The whole wedge thing makes sense now

Re: Kirk's truck part 2........budget SAS
Started on one of the wheels today, but I ran out of sand, so I had to quit until tomorrow. I did learn a little about the wheels though, from talking to my uncle (and using a tape measure). They are 15x10 American Racing wheels with 3.75" backspacing, bought new by my uncle in either late 1975 or early 1976. The rust isn't bad at all on them, just a little on the surface, but I'm still gonna sandblast the whole thing and paint them black. The two on the rear will also get some chrome center caps I found that came with the Mickey Thompsons on my 84. I also found another junkyard today, so I'm gonna go by there tomorrow or Tuesday and see if they have an axle that I can use. Also gonna see if they have any shock mounts I can use up front. And I'm supposed to get some springs by the end of the week. So, that's about it for now, just a quick update for y'all. I haven't actually got much more done, but I'm slowly making progress.
Oh, and tires that have been on wheels for 20+ years are a bitch to get off the wheels.

That's what I'm gonna look for. If I can't find any for some reason, I'm gonna look for something else that may work. I may look for something else anyways, if I think it'll work good, just to be a little different

Re: Kirk's truck part 2........budget SAS
Well, kinda made a little progress today. I finished teh wheels. I painted them with a semi-flat black, the paint is still drying in teh pics. Still not sure if I'm 100% happy with them, but for a total of $20 invested in these wheels, they'll be fine for now. I gave up on the sandblasting idea after having some compressor issues, so I just knocked off the big, loose pieces of rust and paint, and sprayed them. If they don't look perfectly smooth in the pics, that's because they aren't
Still debating on which center caps to use, but either way, two of them will have large holes cut in them for the manual hubs up front. The rear caps will remain intact.
So, Tim, since you are the only person to mention how ugly the wheels were, what do you think now?

Re: Kirk's truck part 2........budget SAS
And I got a little curious how they'd look on the truck. With some tires, I think it'll actually look pretty good like this. And yes, these 15's clear my calipers without doing any grinding.
I think I decided I'm just gonna use the stock NBS center caps, I like the way they look on there.
