Re: 1 step forward 10 back...

gas tank is stock for now,

The welder is a handymig 115 or 135, that ones a flux core. i was using a weldpack hd 175 or 275 (whatever it is.) set up with solid wire and gas, but for tacking on the thin sheet metal i find the fluxcore easier... If i have any frame work ill drag the big one out. its just a pain, and even on the lowest setting with .026 wire i still have trouble with burnthrough.. once i get a good paying job i want to get a precision tig the new ones with the digital readout and pulse cycles are super sweet we have one at school i get to use for the thicker aluminum like quarterinch thick.. mmmm gtaw.. :)

Re: 1 step forward 10 back...

on another note. what compressor are you running? i wouldnt recommend mounting it sideways. the last guy that owned my truck mounted both the viairs on the frame(sideways) and it just destroyed the rubber o-ring and cylinder in them each. when i re-did all the lines and plumbing i remounted them. just giving you a heads up. looks like its coming though.

tru tru, i normally would run an edc but im on time crunch for LNO.. yea this truck is truely garbage, im just trying to fix her up a lil the ex cab is on hold for now, i dont have the money to put into finishing it right now,.. the blue truck is together enough i was goin to take it for a spin around the block.. as i was airing it up the clutch line got pushed onto the exhaust and once it got hot enough burned the linee.. oh well minor setbacks..

Re: 1 step forward 10 back...

damn I had no idea that happened to your truck. I've always loved your ex cab. I had almost the same thing happen to me earlier this year. my master cylinder failed, but I wasn't able to avoid the cars stopped at the light.

before (at LNO last year as a matter of fact, won 2nd under construction):

after:

my friend was looking at buying that blue truck then suddenly the owner quit contacting him just before the transaction. now I know why. looking good man, can't wait to check it out at LNO this year. my c10 was at slamfest, but not sure about LNO yet

Re: 1 step forward 10 back...

okie. pretty busy today..

buddy of mine gave me his left overs off a notch cover i can use for my tubs in the front..

i also picked up his old notch cover he isnt using anylonger..

went to the junk yard and got this.

got a late start today.. so in my 2 hours of daylight this is what i did..

the side of the house is becoming a bone yard..

i didnt really wanna steal these but money is tight at the moment and the retarded body work attemped from the previous owner on the blue doors was terrible. the driver door was all dented like someone knee'd it..

Re: 1 step forward 10 back...

they will get over it! its only been like this for a week now so they can manage.. i melted the clutch cable on the exhaust so once i get that it technically is move-able lol.. that was an oops on my part. 70 bucks for that line from the master to the slave cylinder.. DOH! note for future reference.. see whats on your exhaust after a body drop..

LNO is Nov 14th at the central florida fairgrounds if you need anymore info hit up 1sick1500, its his club putting it on.

haha I did the same thing, from the same notch cover even. I have plenty of clearance for a 22 with a BIG tire, probably could do 4's. I have full turning radius layed out on my 20's. the fender lips limit me though . maybe I missed it but what's the plan for the ex cab? going to rebuild? I remember when it was all black with the chrome trim along the bottom and had the police steelies.

a little bit of irony here too, just before my truck was wrecked I was talking with the previous owner of 1sick1500's truck working a trade. we were working out the details when the wreck happened and the deal fell through

So to paint my chrome grill, all I need to do is scuff up the chrome and prime it?

Re: 1 step forward 10 back...

about the grill, i read the thread in the auto body section of exterior.. and everyone said something different,. so i just did what i want. lol if i had the budget or time i would of added some plastic adher'ing stuff they talk about.. but it looks like it will be just fine...

haha about the truck black with the steelies.. everyone hated me when i started goin into primer spots.. haha after the truck went to green and black i was talking to the dude on craigslist that has the blue 53 caddy trying to trade him then i wrecked it like within a month of that. the dude was hard to get in touch with i dont think he really wanted to get rid of the caddy. ok i gotta try and get photobucket to work for me..

Re: 1 step forward 10 back...

k here we go.

i am started to get more consistant with aluminum welding at school..

anywhooo. started tubbin..

lookin rough still, dont worry ill get it done good eventually.. but for this moment it just needs to be done.

for some reason i love recycling parts to reuse.. haha again. not the finished product.

as of today i started stealing suspension. really didnt wanna do this but i have a big wheel problem,. i really should look into it.

i put these on from the other truck,. and jacked up a wheel for clearance yet it looks like im not going to lay out... wtf? any suggestions, its cut just as much if not more than the green truck.. maybe its an optical illusion>?? cause im cut more and body dropped more. lol guess we shall see..
