Re: Crewcab06 Build Thread
Not a fan of most lowered 4x4 but it looks good.
Did you rattle can those painted pieces or use a gun? Nice match.
Know a guy around here though that has a reg cab Z71 thats lowered and all emblems and badges are removed. But has a built 6.2L engine in it with stall, gears, etc and races it in 4x4. Fastest truck I ever rode in. Looks 2wd though.

i think most people think that defeats the point of it even being 4wd..truth is most people with 4x4's only use it in snow or maybe pulling a boat out of the launch..how much SERIOUS off-roading are we going to do with IFS and and an open diff. in the front neway i say do whatever you want with it man..you're payin the note on it so your opinion is the most important..i think it looks good lowered and i doubt it snows much in texas so i think theres nothin at all wrong with it..i've considered lowering mine but it does snow occasionally in east TN and i have a set of a/t's i like to throw on and go explore trails on every once in awhile..of course you're gonna have people across the internet with differing opionions, hell its what makes us individuals..its apples and oranges bro..it looks good and if you're happy with it i say the hell with em

Re: Crewcab06 Build Thread
Just not sure why you have a 4x4 if you want it lowered? Not sayin it doesnt look good at all, just wondering your view on it?
And yes I have both, a lowered 91 and a 06 Z71. I do use the 4x4 occasionally as I live on a farm and tow, wheel it, and climb with.

Re: Crewcab06 Build Thread
Well after I totalled the last truck, (red one) I figured it was time to man up and get something bigger, like a 4x4, because I was getting married and a house, just seemed like the right choice. Low and behold, 3 yrs later, I still wasnt happy with it. So I set aside $3,500 to get it like I wanted it, either that or trade it in on a new one, and since I just paid it off, and I now have the note on the suburban, I figured I'd go the cheaper route and get it how I wanted.
I think it looks damn good, and I fell in love with it all over again. Sure it still needs stuff done to it, but in the week I've had it lowered with rims, I've gotten 10 times the stares I got with it lifted. Sorry but its my belief and experience that most people gawk at a lowered truck with rims more than they do at a lifted one. Or at least around here anyways. When it was stock, I didn't really take to it, and I missed having that "bond" with it, if you will. My wife loved me not having that "bond" with it....
I think it's cool as hell to have a lowered functional 4x4. I'm actually having a decal that says "LOW 4x4" made up right now for the back glass.

Ok. No harm there. I cant argue that if its paid for and you want something different. I just didnt know if you originally bought it with the intent of lowering or what the story was.
What gears to you currently have in it? Hows the mpg changed since lowered on smaller tires?

Exactly. Good thing I didn't start this thread for opinions on why I lowered a 4x4. I think its sweet that in the middle of a downpour, I cant throw it in Auto 4x4 and leave a light without slippin a tire, when my last 2wd would fishtail all over the road tryin to reach 45 mph.....

Its got the stock 3:73's...as far as the gas mileage, when I changed from 285 mudders to 265 streeters, I got about 2-3 mpg better consistantly through 6 tanks of gas. Then I slapped on the 22's from Rays4x4 and they are only an inch and a half shorter than the streets....so no change there.
Still. Even if I bought a 4x4 to lower it, what would the big deal be? what if I was throwing a radix on there? or any kind of major engine work.....it would be like an all wheel SS.....

I know. I aint here to argue with you. There are too many threads on here already about that. haha
Just wanted to know if you had a purpose besides the look. And yes, if you do major performance mods then you will have the advantage.
