Re: Operation: Halfatruck (side project)
are you really asking? or is that just a cheeky way of making yourself sound smart? in between running 3 booming income streams and raising a family...thats when.
ANYhow... got everything arranged with EMS offroad to send off the BJ knuckles from the d60 and have them custom flat-topped and arms machined to my specs. originally the BJ-D60 didnt excite me, but after some research its probably a better fit for what im doing. the only real drawback was the availability of high steer options, which has been solved. ill be digging into the 60 later this week and doing a 100% rehab/regear of it. more on that as time allows.
in the meantime, here are the pics (crappy cell pics, but despite owning $10k in digital cameras the female unit cant seem to put one on charge when its dead):
bucket foola brackets, tabs, and gussets
custom configured backbone from DIY4x. there is still alot of cutting, configuring, welding left to be done on the backbone.
we should be working on the back 1/2 of the frame soon, but the real hold-up will be getting links from Evolution.

Re: Operation: Halfatruck (side project)
I am really asking. I saw in LPG PWRD's thread where you said that he needed to come help you with the trailer so.

Re: Operation: Halfatruck (side project)
LPGFLWRD welded on the backbone and pressed all the bearings and seals in the hubs. just gotta media blast the housing and paint/powdercoat all the parts.

My guess: Halfatruck = only half the wheels work. Front wheel drive only. Same reason why you can use a flat rear cover on the housing, as that would not give adequate clearance for a ring gear? Or some crazy hydraulic drive system? That would be cool.

I've been thinking about the hydraulic drive also. Saw a motorcycle diesel with hydraulic 2wd.

everything worth doing is worth overdoing. well actually be using both the joints pictured. Frankenhiem on the axle end of the 3-link center, and the large joints at the frame end of the outer links. they are coming with wled-ins and jam nuts, so out threading quandary is solved.
i emailed to get some info on the T-case parts. have not heard back yet.

Re: Operation: Halfatruck (side project)
The axle doesn't need brakes or ring and pinion? This is going to be a wild build.
