Thanks. It's mariner blue from the '90-'93 Mazda Miata.
Ironically, it wasn't the sight of the color on a Miata that caught my eye. In fact, when I first saw the color, I had no idea what it belonged on. I saw it on a Toyota Tacoma at a few shows in 1999. It looked sort of like the Porsche blue everyone likes, but it was darker, so I was lost. Then, one day I saw a Miata driving around with the color. Sure enough, that was it!
any new plans with it for the future, maybe another nose upgrade or something?[/QUOTE]
Major plans I would like to accomplish sometime are a new interior and drivetrain.
I want to do a completely custom dash. I have been working on drawings from time-to-time, trying to figure it out. Just the gauges alone I want for it will run close to $1,000, so it'll be a while.
Currently, the truck has a 350/5-speed. I have 199,xxx miles on it now and it's been perfectly reliable, but more power would be nice. I would like an LS motor and 6-speed transmission. If I could put 300-350hp to the wheels, I'd be satisfied.
I do have a couple of things that I would like to do with the front of the truck. I would like to find an old Buick Regal T-Type/GN hood and have the power bulge molded into my hood.
The '99-'02 Sierra bumper works ok with the Escalade clip, but I've always had issue with the way the grille and bumper meet up in the lower center area. The lines don't match well enough. The '03-'07 Sierra bumper is a great match, but the entire bottom of the bumper is a painted plastic cover. As low as I drive the truck, that wouldn't be a good idea unless I wanted to scrape off some paint. So, what I want to do is take the bottom of my current bumper and have the top of the '03-'07 bumper welded to it for the best of both worlds. I would have the better shape of the newer bumper and still have the airdam on the bottom that I won't worry about dragging.

Re: The History of 1badgmc
Great read! Builds and history lessons are always cool to read! And especially on this truck, which is still one of my favorites on the site. When I first joined here, I remember three trucks specifically... Yours, BadKelly's, and that one guy with the black lowered 4X4.

Well, I have that small list of things I'd like to do someday, but for the most part, I'm very happy with how it looks now. Beyond those things, I can't think of anything I could do to make the truck any better in my eyes. The stance, the wheels, the body...everything is more than I could have ever dreamed of when I drove this thing off the lot in '96. The rear end treatment and especially the color are probably my 2 favorite points of the truck.
My bodyman thought I was crazy when he first saw the color I had picked back in '99. Once he saw it on the truck, he changed his mind. I think he's had pretty good faith in my tastes and decisions ever since then. He likes it so much that he put it on his sign...

Ehhhh...It's just one of those things that's never concerned me. If it were laid out, it'd be fine, but I just have no desire to take the necessary steps to get it there. With ShockWaves in the front, it ain't gonna happen anyhow.

I liked them too. Incidentally, I still have those lights. I need to dig them out and display them. I had painted the bulbs with red engine paint. They shined pretty red through those tails and not purple like you might think. I drove with them on the street for a while, but I felt that they just weren't bright enough during the daytime to be satisfyingly safe for me, so I pretty much relegated them to show-only duty and swapped them out with stockers.

Re: The History of 1badgmc
Very nice truck. I had a set of Weld Tomahawks back in the day, but mine were 15's.

I still have the Tomahawks too. I sold them to a friend after I took them off the truck and he had them on his '97 for a while. He was about to sell the truck, so he offered me the wheels back. He had some massive 275/60 tires on all of them, but somehow managed to fug a couple of them up with curb rash pretty bad, not to mention I don't think he ever polished them. They need a lot of work, but they're sentimental for me.

The blue tails? They're the original all-clear tails that I took apart and sprayed the backside of the lenses with some Testors Transparent Blue spray paint.

Re: The History of 1badgmc
Great write-up Jason. Hopefully I can hang on to mine that long, although mine is going to be much more of a slow and steady I think....5.5 years in and well, you've seen it.
Your truck and Hell-S1 are on the list of things I need to check out if I'm ever down that way.
