The story of our lives, epic...
well, since my truck is i never ending project, i thought i should start a thread. heres a run down of the life of my beloved Z71.....
this is how i brought her home 2 years ago, i paid $5500 cash for it. At the time she had 199xxx miles, but the engine ran good and the 60E had just been rebuilt and was still under warranty. The owner put the stickers on, not me...
i had her for 3 months before the intake manifold blew, no biggie, took me a weekend to fix. for the next few months, i didnt do much to her, i was to bust with high school, football practice, votech classes, than work.
after finishing high school, i got a real job and started doing more to her.....

[IMG]http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn75/97z71stepside/new3
November 2008....2 days after a put 33 inch mud tires on, the 3rd hard take off..
Blew out the rear end and transmission in one shot FTW
after replacing the rear end with a 14 bolt SF, and a junkyard 4L60E with a vette servo and S10 converter, i was back in action, and added some NBS rims..
June 2009, my final mud riding trip, as this had been the biggest mistake iv made($$$$) i sank my truck in a mud hole, flooded the interior, i had muddy water in the engine, wasted the starter and a few sensors, but after that night, my engine had a tapping noise.
this is after pulling the muddy carpet out and cleaning out the cab..

and other after affects
July, the motor gives and spins 4 rod bearings
so after a long 2 months, i compltely rebuilt the engine(see vid in sig)
dropped it in and added some exhuast goodies...

Re: james_8997's money pit....
than one random night, i decided i wanted HIDs
So thats the run down. As of now, my plans include restoreing my interoir, thats on top right now. ill be adding black carpet, black headliner, and painting some of the interoir pieces to match. im also gathering parts for a system, 4 Kicker CVX 10s in a custom box, DS650.2 components(already in) and not to sure after that.
when thats done, ill be lowering her, about a 3/5 drop with some smaller tires. soon after 4.11 gears will be swapped in for the sucky 3.42s, a locker will go with the 4.11s.
from there, a built 60E with a TT2600 stall converter. than ill start playin with the engine some more.
stay tuned, this will be a long on going thread, in the end, ill have a very clean OBS

Re: james_8997's money pit....
James, I'mma be honest here...
I hate step sides. I don't know why. I never really liked them.
But that's okay because you might hate Suburbans.
But the pic in your sig, with your stepside and those wheels... Make the truck look really good.
If I ever was forced at gunpoint to own a stepside, I'd hope you were selling yours.

Re: james_8997's money pit....
Thanks Chad
and no Mykk, no more mud for me, in fact, if i could go back, i would have NEVER put my truck in the mud.
thanks Elton
other plans i left out include a 2 inch Cowl hood, shave the rear steps, and have her painted. but thats the last thing on the list.
