Gas Tank ?
Hey everyone,
My truck is a 90 reg cab short bed and it's gonna be laying on the frame as soon as I get my new welder. My question is about the gas tank. Is the tank gonna hit the ground first or will there be any problems with it when I lay the truck out? I can't measure it myself, cause I took the tank out. Originally I was gonna do a fuel cell but I'd rather stick to the one I have since it works and there's already a space for it. Did any of you guys have any problems in this area? If so, what were they and how'd you solve em? Thanks for the help!
Patrick

The tanks hangs below the frame a little bit. I also have a 90 RCSB and moved my tank and ran a tri 4 link. A friend of mine didnt move his tank and it sits on the ground but that shouldnt really hurt it unless you plan on draggin.

I don't plan on dragging it anywhere. I just want to make sure I don't crunch it up when it goes down. Thanks for the reply!

I trimmed the crossmember that goes over the gas tank. The back of my tank is a good 1.5" from dragging

That sounds like it would work pretty good. Did you have to move the mounting brackets up that far to get it to move up or did you just tighten the straps? It's been a long time since I pulled the tank out so I can't quite remember how it all goes together. Thanks for the idea!

I had to shorten the strap, and cut the crossmember.

Sweet! Thanks for the picture, that definitely explains it all. Hopefully I'll be getting the tank back in there soon and I'll keep this in mind. Thanks for the help!

No problem man. Glad I could help you. I had to cut about 3" off the strap, and bend a 90 degree angle in it, and drill a new hole.
