Definitive York Write up.
Ok...since so many people are asking about York setups I thought I'd make a page on my geocities site for parts and supplies and a general how to. Would you all like to see this? I'm browsing grainger and mcmaster carr right now to get equivalents that will work.
Post any tips or questions you would like to see answered and I'll try to address them on the page.
Oh..and the link will be www.geocities.com/jleiwig/york.htm or something to that effect. I'll go put the page up now but it won't have anything on it yet.

Which model york is the high output and what year vehicles where they made for? Is there a diffrence in the suction side of the comp if it is mounted vertical or close to vertical?
I know how to hook it up I just need to know what is the most desirable of the york units and what considerations must be given to instalation. Mine is going to be a custom setup so I am going to have to fab everyhing up.

I'll answer all that and more...the only thing that will be different about yours will be your bracket setup. Other than that...everything else will work

Yeah..it's going to take me forever though...I suck ass at html and I'm in the middle of remodeling my house...
Here is some info that might help you though
www.mcmaster.com
#4552k184 Stainless Steel Leader Hose 3ft length
#98305k77 Solberg filter...same as on onboardair.com
#7775k24 Check valve...1/2"
#50265k23 Safety Pop off valve. Same one as on onboardair.com
I added this up and it's about 75 bucks for this stuff...

I really need to know which compressor to be looking for. What makes models and years did the high CFM units come on. Seems like someone said late 70's Ford something, but I know they made them for all kinds of vehicles.

Honestly your best bet is to get one off a freightliner semi. I got mine from like a 2000 freightliner. For free to boot. They even come with the 6 rib serpentine belt clutch.
There are tons of cars and trucks that came with them through the 70s and the early 80s. I have found them on everything from amc javelins to volvos. You just need to know what to look for. Go to onboardair.com and check out the faq and links and that should get you started.

ok..so I ordered everything on that list I posted except the leader hose since I had it already. it came to like 33 bucks plus shipping and was at my door in 2 days. It was everything that is offered in the airlift kit and the same stuff that onboardair.com offers on their site.
So far my total for my york is right at :
york: free
rotolock fittings: 30 bucks
3' leader hose: 44 bucks
pop off valve, check valve, intake filter: 33 bucks
Right at about 110 bucks so far. I still need brackets and a belt and I'm all set for air supply...Just need bags now!

If I could remember where I put them I could. Maybe luke or mark or someone could host them here?
