Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
Ive seen some mention of belltechs spindles in here and im goin to put in my 2 cents and ask for some help. heres the advice...DONT buy them! They are overpriced, very difficult to install (flip UCA's, balljoints, and we had to shave em alot to get em on OEM 17's) They do end up being about a 3" drop with flippin everything, great, but now i scrape more than i'd planned (i have them with 2" drop springs too). Also, when you turn the wheels to full lock either direction, they pinch or stretch the brake line too far (havent got it n the air to look yet but i think its wuts happening) so you lose braking power momentarily, then its like you have to bleed the brakes to get em goin again. Ive also heard from other places that the calipers hit the CA's but i couldnt imagine it. Also, my turning radius decreased alot more than i expected. They are just a hassle, and the thing is...belltech is aware of it all! I still have them on and im lookin for alternatives. Heres the question: Can i somehow fix this problem any way other than buying some Mcgaughys? Ill prolly get some longer steel braided brake lines to fix that part, but does anyone know anything about all of the other problems? had the same problems? let me know! Thanks.

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
Ok..I was looking at possibly just doing a 2/4 drop on my truck..Money is one reason, and it is my daily driver and I really don't want to get carried away, just want to close that wheel gap.

Whats the easiest way to do a 2/4?

Also, I bought the truck of my dad, and back when he first got it, he put air ride airbags in the rear, not drop bags, but for extra support when we had our camper on the truck.

Can I leave the bags be, or do I need to ditch them?

Do spindles in the front and 4" leafs in the back. Don't mess with the hangers they are a complete PITA to get off.

You can probably leave the bags, but after you drop it just check the clearance and functionality of them. If something doesnt work right, you can either modify or toss them.

Question Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
Hi Gang
I'm a newbie to the forums. I have a 94 C1500 2WD Suburban that I'd like to drop at least 3 in the front and level the rear to the front. I know I'll need spindles, but how can I level it in the back, maybe (hopefully) with just leafs? I dont really wanna cut the frame. I have found alot of info here in this thread, but not much pertaining to my 'burb. One main thin is keeping the cost "reasonable/sane". Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Best Regards from Daytona Beach
Larry

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
if you dont put the shackles on, it will be a 5/6. The shackles can add 1-2", depending on which hole you bolt them too.

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
Ok it is time to pass my 94 c1500 rclb on to my 16 year old son. I would like to put a drop on it before he gets it. Does the fact it is a long bed change any of the drops, also it is a 6cyl will that change any of the drops? The truck itself is in nice condition. One owner under 95k, I was thinking 4/6 is there a particular wheel size I should go with(17,18,or 20)? As I asked before does the 6 change the amount of the drop up front due to weight? If I do go with a bigger drop is there anything else that needs to be done up front? Thanks for any input.

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
i went with a 5/6 drop instead of a 4/6 because of the fact that i have a V6. Im really glad i did. It looks really nice that low in the front. Only thing you scrape on is the air dam, but thats easliy replaceable.

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
So with the 5" drop up front did you need to change/modify anything else? Did use just use springs and spindles?

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
if you plan on running 15" wheels with drop spindles, you will have to cut about 4" off of the rain gutter on the lower control arms, or they will rub.

so just 2" spindles, 3" springs and a rear flipkit w/notch will give you a 5/6 drop.

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
Ok, last question(I hope). When I lower it I need dropped shocks, I see the Belltech kits come with shocks. Question is what do shock extenders do? Are they so you can run stock shocks? Are they needed even with the dropped shocks?

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
Hello, I've been reading this article along since page one and it got me enticed enough to post here what I plan on doing to my recently purchased 1989 Chevrolet Regular Cab Short Box with a 4.3L v6 and a 5speed manual.

I started off wanting to just do a simple drop, something like a 3/4... but then i realized that my truck sits pretty low at the front to begin with, so my brother suggested a 2/4 which I agreed with. I was about to order the parts today when I found this forum and saw pictures of member's actual trucks and the performed drop.

So I've held off from ordering the parts (which were chassis tech and recommended here that they were garbage) and have changed my mind and want a 4/6 drop.

Here's my truck, keep in mind I still have to put on my cab corners, new box, and front fenders, and all the rust will be gone.

http://www.fsckme.ca/wiki/index.php?...89_chevy_c1500

The package I've chosen is this one

Comments are welcome and criticism is encouraged.
thanks

braden

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
i currently have a 2/4 beltech drop on my 99 OBS gmc sierra i wanna bring it down to a 4/6 i already know what im gunna run with it i just need to get ahold of some stock shackles and hangers. My main questions i a running 255/45r20 yokos i was wondering will that fit up front with the 4 inch drop up front?? Oh and i am running 2 inch spindles and will be running 2 inch coils up front. and then the 6 inch flip in the rear. Also i am using nitro active drop shocks will i have to change those out for another set specifically for the 4/6?? Also do you guys reccomend cutting out all the inner fender lips?? Cause my fronts are rolled but they were done very Chitty. Also if i run 275/45r20's will they fit???

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
With a 4" drop up front I ran 29" tall tires (255/70/15) for a long time, and had aboslutely ZERO issues with rubbing. Those 255/45/20's are literally the exact same height as my stockers were. Once I went to 5" I had some rubs, but not too bad honestly.

I'd believe they (255/45/20s) would work, as long as your offset/BS on your KMC's are good for tucking. The 275's I would think would work as well. They are 3/4" taller, but I know you should have that much clearance.

And I didnt cut my fenders out, just rolled them.
