Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
Just double checking.
On a 2 door 97 Yukon 2wd, isn't 5" the lowest you could drop a daily driver w/o notching the frame?
Thanx in advance.

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
haven't looked at this thread in a long time and figured i'd chime in.
i have 2" djm spindles and 2" hotchkis coils with another inch cut out for a total of 5. back is leaves, shackles, and hangers and yes, the factory rivets are a pain to remove if you don't have the proper tools. wickedspeed motorsports did mine about 5 years back and i have had zero problems. i still have the factory air dam, though it's in rough shape (see here: air dam thread)
overall, it's a rougher ride (because i'm also set up for performance), but it corners better than any car i've had. it creaks when i take a steep incline diagonally, but i usually try to watch out for them in general so it's not an issue.

I have not done anything yet, I was just wondering before I picked out parts.
Turns out I can't go that low w/o cutting out room for the driveshaft too. So I'm just going to go 2/4 so I don't have to cut up the truck.

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
i'm running djm 2" drop spindles,
-2" djm drop coils,
-6" djm flipkit,
-2" belltech drop shackles,
-running a 265/35/22 tire on a 4/7 drop,
-trimmed my lca's to use my stock 15's,
-trimmed my front fenderlips,
-trimmed a section off of the center brace under the bed right on top of the differential,
-my wheels are 22x9.5 with 6" of backspacing,
-thats +40 offset and they tuck perfectly,
-raised my y-pipe also, great daily driver!

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
have you guys had any issues with pinion angle? i get vibrations and harmonics from my driveshaft angle at certain speeds. i have tried 4 different pinion angle wedges and can't get a happy medium, it either vibrates or i get the weird harmonics. driving me crazy. i am about to put the front back stock and 2" shackles out back and be done with it. hate to do that because i love the way it looks but enough is enough! jd

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
thing is when i put the different wedges in it changes my symptoms. one wedge it will have no noise but will vibrate at certain speeds, put another one in and no vibration but harmonics when i let off the gas. if it were the u-joints or driveshaft it wouldn't change like that. jd

get some 265/35/22 tires (if you don't already), assuming that they tuck,
front: 2" drop spindles, 2" drop coils (djm)
rear: 6" flipkit (djm)
call edelbrock and tell them you've lowered you truck 4/6 and they'll set you up with the right shocks

Re: My advice on lowering your truck static.
well i took off my hangers , spindles , coils and shocks and put the stock stuff back on and i have no vibrations and no harmonics. yes the truck doesn't look as good sitting basically stock except for 2" shackles and a set of 20" wheels and tires but until i wear out these tires i guess it will have to do. if i lower it after i wear out the tires i'll use leaf springs or a flip kit, no more hangers. pita to put on and take off. by taking off the hangers it raised the rear 3". i thought the hangers were 2" and the shackles 2" more. jd
