Re: Advice on bagging a truck

K ill start off by saying that ive got a 94 1 ton dually that im wanting to lay frame. As of right now im 4in up front and 5in out back from laying out. It curruntly has an air lift 4 link with heavy duty bags and panhard on the pumpkin setup. Ive already planned on changing this up but keeping the 4 link thats on it. I would like to run the bags on top of the axle but these bags are huge (i tow alot) So im thinking that i might need more then a 10in notch but not for sure. Also with the front ive got upper control arms, and 2in drop spindles. I planned on just removing the inner fenders up front but its doesnt like like the bag has enough travel left to lay out, am i going to have to rebuild the cups up front? Another thing is ive had nothing but trouble with the air lift engine driven compressor. I know ive heard nothing but good but i just cant get this thing aligned right and to my knowledge thier isnt a mounting bracket made as of yet for the big block. Sorry for the long post just trying to learn as much as possible, i really want to have this dually layed out in time for slamboree.

cheap and bags go together like oh and shyt when something goes wrong because you got cheap. most economical for an individual with limited fabrication experience would be art bolt in cool ride with lower arms, bolt in shock relocators, any air managment kit and a kp 6 link. with that you are probably at or over 3k

Re: Advice on bagging a truck

one thing I saw in a post on this subject that id like to comment on...

someone said that with drop arms and drop spindles you need more air pressure to get lift and more lift to clear the wheels.

this is totally not true. if the bag is totally deflated and compressed fully, it will give the same amount of list at the same pressure.

the key to getting plenty of lift is getting the bag as far in toward the bushings as you can. plus flattening the bags totally when the truck is layed out.

Man, good luck. I told myself that I could do it for around $1,000 too but I have $3,000 easy in my setup. Of course, you probably wont have two tanks and an engine driven compressor and whatnot, but it all adds up real quick. I'd budget more to be on the safe side and make sure you get some quality stuff.

this is true chassi tech is cheap but it sucks it will break, i did a kp 4 link and cantilever and it went on sooooo easily i didnt have to take the bed off or anything out of the truck besides old suspension. it rides really nice too. innovativeairsuspension.com hooked me up with a really good deal id go through them they got it to me pretty quick to. uh i couldnt put the front on though i had to pay for that cuz im stoopid and dont know where to relocate the shocks and i ran out of time and c-notch is worth paying to get done a good place will do an 8" for like 300 and i prolly wouldnt install stuff myself again if i had the choice it pay for it to get done.

Re: Advice on bagging a truck

My set up shares many components with Static. I only differ in that I went DJM UCA's and LCA's and use Slam Specialties ES 72 bags.

Re: Advice on bagging a truck

I ran all air lift suspension with a modified rear setup, along with a york engine compressor, I had awsome luck with it the whole time i had it!! the only advice i could give to someone is spend the extra money run steel braided for you front section. its clean and safer i think. Plus i ran all Parker push lock hose and that stuff is awsome the fittings are exspensive but man is it worth it, i just can;t stand the plastic line that alot of company's use.

3" uppers, 2" lowers to lay on 27" tall tires.

Re: Advice on bagging a truck

I recently bought the following for my 98 extended cab short bed silverado...

KRZ tubular control arms, upper and lower
KP six link with cantilever setup
And connitech bags all the way around.

I plan on running these bags till I change them out for slams...I bought this setup all used from another member on this forum. I got a great deal on everything....Here are a few questions that I have now...

I need shocks for the front and rear...what should I use for the front and for the back. I also need to replace the ball joints on the control arms. I do not know if they are stock ball joints or not. Does any one know of a good urathane ball joints or any good stock replacements I could use????

As far as air management goes...I plan on doing this I believe....

Here is a link....

http://www.suicidedoors.com/Starter_Kit_1-2.php#

I am going to add another tank and compressor also down the road. But I am going to do this for now. I plan on mounting everything under the bed.

I also plan on running an 8-10 inch notch in case I go 22" inch wheels.....and 2 inch drop spindles....

More questions....

If I am running the KRZ arms, connitech bags, and 2 inch drop spindles will I need to cut the inner fenders out? If so what do other guys do to move the ABS and brake stuff over the driver side fender well? I want to be able to lay out on it. Also I am currently running stock 15 inch wheels with stock tires do you think I will have rubbing issues? I will buy wheels once the truck is down.

What offset do wheels need to be to tuck? and what lug pattern are the OBS trucks?

turns out I have more questions then originally thought.

Josh

Re: Advice on bagging a truck

I can't decide if I want to go with a 4 link or 2 link in the rear. My main concern is where I mount the bags. If I mount the bags over the axle do I need a larger notch than if I mount them on the bars? If so then I would rather mounth them on the bars. If I do go on the bars, are the bas in front of the axle or behind it? Sorry for all the stupid quesions.
