Running directional tires the wrong way..problems?
ok well obviously they are directional tires and are only supposed to be run one direction. both of my pass tires are worn on the inner edge so i cant swap them. I need these tires to get me through for another month or two..both my drivers side tires are in good shape. I could pay to get the tires swapped over so they would be run the right way, but im low on cash right now..Im getting 4 new tires next spring so i dont care about these..What could happen by running them the wrong way? will it last me a month or so?

Show- Bagged w/6 link, 15 gal under bed, EDC, 22's, Satin black, GMC grille, HIDs, custom interior, 18" BTL in a blow through w/ Kicker kx 2500.1

Go- 350 w/headers, true duals, TB spacer, CAI
21 mpg
And of course my pup Chevy

it will run really rough, like its out of alignment. But you should be fine.

i bought a truck with tires on the wrong way and i never changed them b/c i was lazy and it never made a difference... the only thing i would imagine is in water, ice, and different situations traction will suck but i was in louisiana and it was four cylinder truck so it didnt matter

Yep I'm that douche right now. 2 of mine are going the wrong way. Thanks for reminding me to swap them to be right. No problems. I think they are mostly directional to shed water. So you might hydroplane easier but tire wear wont be affected.

They're more noisy when they're running backwards. But, hell if you need them to last a little longer...flip them around.

Well technically the belts and tire can seperate. The reason being the belts are used to going one direction....now you will be driving them in the opposite and they do have a kind of "memory" if you will. I heard under hard driving (which i doubt you can achieve w/ a bagged truck) the belts could come apart.

Most directional tires are high performance tires and driven hard.....that is the differance.

What about swapping them side to side? This would put the worn out inner on the outer side and still keep the directional pattern correct.

Re: Running directional tires the wrong way..problems?
That is my other option, but the tire places want 40 a wheel to do this..cant swing that right now since im leavin for school next week..I will see how they are when i just run them the wrong way..if they are really bad ill either run stockers or get the tires swapped

Don't worry Bro , I'm gonna be in your boat soon enuf . But I have the added benefit of being friends with most of the small shops in my area , I can always stop by my brothers shop and use the rim clamp & wheel balancing machine.

BTW , HAppy B-day to Meeee...

Re: Running directional tires the wrong way..problems?
heh,

my old s10 I put the wheels on backwards, cause I was to excited about putting the NEEPERS on. No noticable problems the entire time. Rightnow on my landrover the tires are on backwards once again, only because of some odd wear issue which cause my truck to pull to the left , but the alignment was ok.

The only real problem is the way the tire push's away the water. but you would only notice this in a monsoon type down pour

Re: Running directional tires the wrong way..problems?
Good to hear..I dont plan on driving it any substantial distance in the rain at this time because i havent finished water proofing the sub box in the back..makes me feel better though. Now ill just have to get the tire wear thing figured out before i get 4 new ones
