Re: Chassis Tech?
I found all the talk about them being junk after I bought it.The kit that I got came with tubular control arms,4 link,bags,compressor,c-notch,controls,gauges,and so on..I really havent heard exactly what is so wrong with them just that they basically have a bad name! Can someone go into detail with problems that they had with Chassis Tech?

Re: Chassis Tech?
Do a search.
wkdspd had a spindle crack and I know a few others have had that problem on other boards. Their shocks are junk, thier flip kits have been known to break at the welds. Their springs are known to basically die after a few years.
There's no telling to how many people have been screwed by their shipping and restocking costs.

Re: Chassis Tech?
I just read the link(only 1 worked 4 me)that were posted and not taking any side but it kinda seems like abuse was the factor in the parts breaking.I kinda wonder how many trips down the track this guy made before he broke?
Like I said Guys not taking sides just wanting to figure out if I need to trash this stuff.I've looked it all over and seems like good stuff, but who knows? The truck I'm doing is not a racer but will have a stout 406 and 700R-4 so I'll smoke the tires on an occassion!
Thanks for the input so far and keep all opinion's coming please!

That's only one of the stories you hear....we all have no other reason to bash shAIM except for the fact we do not want others to get screwed or end up hurt....I bought hangers from them back in the early 90's, for some reason I didn't like the way they looked so I gave them to a good friend that wanted them...all he had was a 2-4 drop on a daily driver, and within a few months on the way home one night the hanger broke apart...this guy still has the truck using belltech parts with over 250K on it, so he takes very good care of it and does not abuse it...so no other reason for the hanger to brake unless it was poorly made. I owned a body shop for 15 years and my customers would bring me shAIM bumpers, rollpans and grills to install and not one of them ever went on without major repairs, the bumpers always had to be heated up and reshaped, or the brackets reemed out just for them to go on, all their grills would come with stress cracks and they would never take the parts back, so of course I had to do repairs to get them to fit, sometimes they were so out of shape I had to to use sheet metal screws behind the park lights to get them to sit close to the fender....I only did this cause I felt bad for them after they got the hose job from shAIM not taking back the parts unless they charged them 20% restocking fee which was total bs.

Re: Chassis Tech?
Maybe Joe Morrow could explain to me why my shaved door kit NEVER fuggin' worked. I'm sure he could explain to me why it was completely necessary for me to climb through my back window a couple times a week
Send that garbage back.

Re: Chassis Tech?
Examples of shAIM parts. lowered my 1999 ford(I know a ford) dually with their kit, front drop beam was had way to much camber in it, and stuck out the fender well, called told them the exact measurments, waited 2 weeks for it, paid for it, again, put it on, same thing, measure both out, same beam no mods, called raised hell got nowhere, send it back restock fees, and special build, cannot return when it was the same thing. Ordered compressors for the truck and put it on bags, compressor kept blowing out the relays, check all wiring, nogo, same thing, swap compressors around, it blew out the other relay that was working, called sent it back to thim on my dime, they said it tested fine and did repeated test and are going to ship it back to me, wrong, they have the specs on what the compressor puts out on the net, so while on the phone with them I was checking, lying fools said it did more cfm than the comp could put out and also stated it filled the tank faster than it could to there specs, cant remember the exact numbers but no way that comp could do in in the time, went out and tested the good one and they just didn't match up. The rear 4 link bars were too long to fit correct, had to chop down rethread them, the brackets didn't line up, the axle cups had to be cut out wider for the dually rear end instead of the 1/2 ton axles. had to go into the switch box and tighten all the wires down, had to order extra air line, the bags are thin compaired to the other bags on the market. truck number 2: installed drop spindles for a friend that bought the kit, had to clean the bearing mounts for the hubs, to thick and rough, had to enlarge the baljoint holes to fit. truck number 3: chevy s-10 not a damn thing mounted up right, had to redrill brackets, the notch was a piece of chit, tried to put it together roughly to see how well it would fit wrong, nothing lined up, cut my own, the link bars again to long, same problem with the spindles, bag mounts had to be modified to fit nicely, and a compressor quit working 2 days after install, motor locked up. switch box a couple of the swithces wouldn't hit, had to open up and replace them, he decide to run the manifold style vallves from them and one solinoid blew the plunger out of it at 75psi, had to rethread it, was stripped from their assembly before we got them. I would cancel and send the crap back and look into some of the other places, even if they cost you a 100 out of pocket.

Re: Chassis Tech?
I had an old phantom dually that was the mold truck for AIM's phantom billet grill. The sh*t didnt even fit my truck after production. Ive seen spindles that where snaped or spindel shanks that were an inch to short. Springs that advertised 3" drop but only gave 1/2". etc etc etc. I grew up in Phoenix before joining the military and it was an everyday occurance to see Aim, Chassis Tech, horror stories and extremely bad products. I think there still in business because the change their name alot, sell cheap, have huge ads in magazines and just suck NEW SPORT TRUCKERS in. Dont buy from them........YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED...

Re: Chassis Tech?
However I think with the air kit you do get a lot of "Safe" parts like the tanks, (I have heard great things about their comps...they arn't even made by chassistech they are made by phenix or something like that)
Airline etc...
And once again, I have heard that their 4 links for s-10's and 88-98's are good quality as well.
The only experience I have with them was my rollpan and front bumper. Rollpan fit was good, it looks real nice and I like it. Front bumper has wave's in it that can't really come out...almost press marks from a machine but for the price I can't complain.

Re: Chassis Tech?
made the mistake of buying a flip kit for my 95 ecsb, left work about two weeks after install and the whole rear end spun in the ubolts. damn saddle was just a piece of flat stock bent with no notches for the axle perches. guess i'm to blame some for putting it on, but hey why not bump up their prices and concentrate a little more on quality control.

Re: Chassis Tech?
I got a 2-4 drop from them I guess around 99 when I got my first truck, and I paid I think around the same price to ship teh crap as I did for the actual crap. Got it all installed and the springs sucked big dong, and were bouncey as all hell even with good shocks, I hated that crap and took it all off.

Re: Chassis Tech?
My truck has had a 2/4(spindles, shackles, hangers) drop on it from 1990-november 2003, racking up 160,000 miles! No problems whatsoever with the drop. I still have the spindles, and I sold the hangers to a friend, whom drives on them everyday still!
Another friend of mine bought the I-beams for his f150, got in a 110 mph wreck with a tree, totaled his truck, and slightly bent the I-beam! The tree hit his front end, and almost killed him! I say thats pretty strong parts.
Another guy just bought a cowl induction hood for his obs, and it fits great! Cheaper, and stronger than the "good" companies. The painter/bodywork person asked where he got the hood, and that it was the best quality he's ever seen!
This just goes to show that AIM does produce some good stuff, but have screwed others too. I personally havent had anything wrong with AIM parts.
