He may not be able to, but I partially will. Color of the paint makes no difference (so long as its not silver), but a painted surface will radiate heat better than an unpainted surface. Do a google search for paint heat radiation and see what you come up with.

Re: The York Thread.
nope thats the pooooo.. you know you're overheating your york when the filter (inside) gets chunky darker stuff. thats really smells like a treat! gotta keep it clean inside too.
but yeah thats normal. i kept a small gatorade bottle in my "york service bucket" to blast it into from the filter. along with some wrenches, a cpt qts of 30wt oil, rags, and extra white teflon rings and o-rings if i had to remove the fittings for some reason?

Re: The York Thread.
i kept a thin gatorade bottle with a nice locking top to spray it into. i'd jsut pour it into my waste oil buckets and recycle or jsut toss the bottle, please dont jsut let it fly, i'd hate to step in that stinkpile of oil!

Re: The York Thread.
Does anyone run the kilby combo pulley on their alternator for the york or is it best to find the right clutch for the serp.? I found a york with the v groove clutch already on it and thought I'd just get this pulley instead of a whole new clutch. Thanks..

Re: The York Thread.
I am running the combo pulley, but it ended up being the wrong size groove for the clutch on my york. Good thing there was enough to turn it to the right size on the lathe.

Re: The York Thread.
What are all of you using to fill your yorks? I used to have this funnel that worked decent, but I discovered the caps on differential fluid containers are amazing to fill a york with.

I thought I should put this info here for what car comes with a York 209.
Audi

1986 - 1987 4000CS QUATTRO

I found one of those bottles that comes in those hair color kits at my girls house, it has a very small tip and works pretty well.
