Re: 2 dr Tahoe Guys....roll call and reference list!!!
My hoe is now dropped almost 7" front and somewhere around 7" rear, static. W00t! It was 5" front before, and around 6" rear before.

My dad had some 4" drop coils stored away from his truck. I replaced my 3" coils with them, but because the 4" coils were made for a standard cab, and because they're a little on the soft side even on a standard cab, they actually dropped the front of my hoe an extra 1-11/16".

I'm stoked, because now the front tires went from having a nearly 2" gap to the fender, to just barely tucking or maybe about even with the fender. I think it looks tons better.

As for the rear, I swapped my lift shackles for stock, which lowered the rear about 3/4". It has a tad more rake now than before, but it's ok.

The only setback yesterday was a nasty metal-on-metal screech we heard when we bounced up and down on the rear bumper a few times. Turned out that the swaybar was rubbing on one of the metal straps that holds the gas tank up. Adjusted the swaybar mounts on the axle and fixed the noise.

I haven't logged more than a few miles on it so far. It has roughly 1-1/2" space between the front bumpstop and a-arm, and about 3" spacing to the rear bumpstop. I expect to bottom out the front if anything. I did have something rub when hitting a modest "pucker" in the road on the way home. I don't know if the tire hit the inner fender tub or if some frame hit the bump... Those coils are pretty soft, so I may have to go with some stiff shocks up front. I've already committed to buying some BellTechs from someone on the board, so will try them first. If those don't work out, I'll talk to a family friend who builds Bilstein's shocks about setting me up.

BTW, the burnouts in the pix were courtesy of my dad goofing off about a month ago. You'd never know he was in his mid-60s

I got the lights from Sport Truck Direct in 2005. The valance (and Speed Grille inserts) were from US Auto Parts Network in 1998, so they may or may not carry them any longer.

Warning about the valance. If XXL is still lurking here, he can tell you about a rather unsightly StreetScene logo that they are now embossing in the driver's side corner of the valance. Mine didn't come with it, but that was 11 years ago (man, time flies...) It may not bother you, but he ended up using some sort of body filler (maybe urethane, as that's what the valance is made of) to fill it before painting.

Gang,
Any suggestions for dyeing the rubbery sockets for the front corner marker bulbs? I'd like to change mine to black, but I'm not sure what would work well on that rubbery material.

thanks,

Overkill, your Tahoe keeps getting better and better. It was the inspiration for me lowering mine a long time ago.

MikeD, your Tahoe is very inspiring. Could you post the particulars of you drop along with tire and wheel sizes.

Re: 2 dr Tahoe Guys....roll call and reference list!!!
Well i see i found all the 2 door hoes. I welcome my self as i am new to FSC but not to the custom world. Been dragging for 12 years now. This is my 99 2 door bought stock in Dec 2005 and finished March 2007. 22s stockfloored, 2006 yukon front clip smoothed out with all clear glass and some custom stuff all over.

Re: 2 dr Tahoe Guys....roll call and reference list!!!
If your referring to my Tahoe I have a rear-end out of a 1996 impala ss which is 3 inches smaller than factory and has disc brakes. I am running a custom 2 link with a pan hard bar. I have a custom made gas tank using the factory one and cutting in down to size. Upfront the fire wall is tubbed and I have Cando tubular control arms. Its stocked floored new frame from the control arms back 2x4 box.
