oh my lord
i cant agree with you more on not using AIM industries, i bought a bumper from them it was a steal at 89 buvks little did i know they stole 89 greenbacks from me, this bumper was a smoothie bumper with with fog lights in it for a 96 tahoe and it was the biggest piece of hell on earth, i have put only the best parts on my truck after doing hours of research and other bumpers were really expensive and then i found AIM and i said how can i go wrong casue the price is so right.
the bumpers on 88-98 ck's are mounted by eight differnt bolts and i could only get three of them in there, and it fit llike hell. i am pretty mechanically advanced and really good with my hands and i couldnt do dick with this bumper, im buyin my next my next my next bumper from goodmark, all i hear is good about that company. I CANT WAIT TIL I GET HOME FORM COLLEGE AND RIP THAT BUMPER CLEAR OFF MY TRUCK AND THROW IT STRIAGHT IN THE GARBAGE, ITS NO GOOD TO ANYONE ELSE BUT A GARBAGE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!1 |

I agree with all most every thing said. I am in the process of getting a shop started, and I am going to have a long talk with my customers so that me and my customers both know what is wanted and expected. Then they will sign a disclaimer stating that air ride suspension is for show use only and that I will not be held responsible for any problems or accidents. Warrenty and other things will be taken into consideration ( example cracking welds or bags rubbing or those sort of things). then when work is finished they will sign another paper stating that the work is at least satisfactory and at least what they expected. All work will be of the up most quality. You shoould never settle for less than the best.
I am not afraid of my work being unsatisfactory. It will always be the best. You just have to be careful now days. Example, If something happens and someone gets hurt or killed there family might try to have a hay day you and you end up out of buisness, bankrupt, jail or what ever. It may have been something that has nothing to do with the custom suspension but now days you can get a law suit for almost anything. I'm not doing it for the money. I'm doing it because thats what I love to do and I am tring to help the custom truck world grow. O yah AIM does suck |

For the money?
Exactly, no money in it lol.....just the glory...whole reason I started the shop 3 years ago.....wasn't happy with what was out there in my area.....customer service is first priority, right there with quality of work and now we carry a good reputation and quality work.......its what gets you ahead.

Re: Buyer tips.
I didnt think AIM was all that bad. I think the only thing that pissed me off was that we would get defective bags every so often. other than that. they've worked pretty allright. Im interested to hear some stories
Edit: I've never order bumpers or n e thing like that from then, just their FBSS kits and brackets.just thought i should point that out. Last edited by born_2_slam : 07-29-2005 at 10:37 PM. |

their parts aren't quality. you're better off taking some time and sitting on fsc or gmfullsize for someone to sell what your'e looking for or to save up the money and get some other, more reputable company. J.W.

Re: Buyer tips.
I agree with yall on AIM. I had their 300psi valves on my first s10 i bagged. i got em off of guage magazines project airdancer. The were horrible. and their parts are cheap and i have seen em fail in the past. i order all my air ride parts from Suicide Doors in Indiana. They build excellent parts and have awesome customer service. it does take a little longer than most though because the build everything to order. that way you get exactly what you want. plus they have pretty decent prices. i bought my first air kit for 850 bucks and my second for 1500(that one had an Oasis compressor)

Re: Buyer tips.
one thing i didnt see in here is that you dont want a shop doing the work too quickly. unless they have nothing else lined up. them taking there time is good but they dont need to take too much time. if the shop has a full bag job out in a day or two i would be leary. i work at a body shop on the side and i know that if you take your time you do a better job.
this also goes for ordering things online. take your time and research the companies. then research them again nad make sure you arent ordering stuff you dont need. i ordered a 12 gallon tank and a 10 switch switchbox for a front back setup. now i look like a dumbass. i jumped in too quick and lost money. talk to kris at AVS. that company has been very helpful. suicidedoors, kp components, and air ride technologies are all great companies to go with. AIM and chassis tech lick donkey nuts in my opinion. |

Re: Buyer tips.
I see there are no recent posts on this thread the initial comments about what company's to stay away from needs updating, if a company is stil in business after the original posting of 2002 either they have cleaned up their act or there are an emormous number of people driving around with defective parts
Company's that do not provide quality and service do not stay in business for long |

Re: Buyer tips.
shAIM does not provide quailty parts and they are still in business. I purchased a shaved door kit from them two years ago and after three months the passenger door stopped working, two weeks later I came out to my truck at lunch to watch a movie, went back in after lunch, ten minutes later they were blaring my name over the pa system telling me my truck was on fire. I ran out to find the drivers door pouring smoke out of it, needless to say the actuator would not open it and the passenger door was still not working. I picked up a big piece of scrap iron busted out the window and opened the door, snatched the door panel off breaking it all to hell and found a small fire in the bottom of the door. The acuator was stuck and melted the wires which caught fire to the speker and dyno mat. I saved my truck called them and they said I wired it wrong. I cussed them to the point that they told me to get a lawyer and take them to court if I was so sure they were at fault. Then he had the nerve to tell me that he was sure they could afford better lawyers, ****ty part is he was right. **** em.

AIM/Chassis Tech make their money off of the newbies to the game. Someone picks up a truck magazine and sees all the pages of AIM ads with their incredibly low prices. The clueless reader, eager to start fixing up their truck, buys into the ads and starts ordering parts. Maybe they get lucky and their first order nets them some parts that work right and don't break on them. Maybe they'll end up making more orders in the future and maybe, just maybe, they'll be one of the lucky ones that never has a lick of trouble from them. The odds are that something will go wrong, and when they do, they'll be the next victim and will move on to better companies. I'll admit that I was once a young newbie and was once entranced by their pretty ads. Luckily by the time I had the money to start buying, I had read enough about them and avoided them. You say that maybe the original post needs updating just because they're still around after 6 years. It's not like they were the new company on the block when the thread was started in 2002. The company was in business probably 10-15 years before even the original post, doing their business the same way the entire time. Just because a company is in business for years and years and is profitable enough to remain in business, doesn't necessarily mean it's a GOOD business. |
