Wiring the remote dump on the AVS 9 switch box...
i have an old alarm that I could hook up just to have the remote dump feature..would I just wire that one wire into the switch box brain? also, after i do that, would I have to hold the button to dump it or would it dump all the way out on its own?

If its a door lock, you will need a delay on break relay with a time setting on it.

If the alarm has programmable door lock pulse duration, you could try the longest duration. Or you could use a relay like vegaman04 said. Look into a PAC TR7.

Although a shop did it for me he put the dump on the trunk pop channel. That way if in order for it to lay I would have to hold the button down. There is about a 2-3 second delay before it dumps the suspension.

Re: Wiring the remote dump on the AVS 9 switch box...
i believe it is a door unlock...its just a cheap alarm that i used for my shaved doors...I would hit the alarm button twice to open the drivers door, and hold the other button to open the pass. door..so i would wire one of those to a relay? would that relay just keep it powered long enough to hopefully get the truck to the ground?

I had the same thing on my 89 along time ago. And if I remember right it would power the soleniod for about 2-3 seconds. So depending on how fast your system is would determine if it goes all the way down. My trunk release takes 2-3 seconds to activate but it wont shut power off to the dump valves until I let go of the button.

The real question is do you want to control the drop height (coolness effect) remotely or do you just want it to drop 100%? Remotely=trunk, and relay for full drop.

Re: Wiring the remote dump on the AVS 9 switch box...
as food for thought, i took the switch box apart, and rewired/soldered that remote dump wire to the fills. avs uses diodes to seperate the individual corners so i jsut switched if from the down to up.. i liked being able to hop the truck up walking up to it..

way i saw it is if YOU are laying out your truck after YOU park it and you accidentally hit the button, no biggie for ups, if you accidentally hit the button for down and your wheels are turned, someones looking under it, door is open by a curb... OOPS

you also need to make sure the latching output on that alarm is not negative switched. Different alarms and vehicle manufacturers use different sides of the contact as outputs/inputs. Some are neg while others use a positive output. Not knowing you might fry the circuit with essentially a dead short.
Good judgment comes from bad experience.
A lot of that comes from bad judgment.

Two last posts are great! Guess you should post up specs on the alarm.

You would void your warranty.

what is a warrenty? lol

You will need more then one channel from the alarm brain to make the function work obviously. Also you will need relays this is a picture of how my buddy did his.

Re: Wiring the remote dump on the AVS 9 switch box...
awesome kris, thats good news.

as far as re-wiring it, if your stereo guy knows how diodes and rocker switches work he should figure it out quick. i dont remember the exact colors or sides of what i changed offhand but it was pretty simple.

also you dont need 9 relays, the new boxes have them built in. if its the old ones w/o then yes and you would have to tie into the handheld box and just tie into the relays.
