Project: '89 C1500 RCSB

This is what I started with, I am trying to make this project; being my first and all, as budget as possible and still doing it right. So I ordered a 4/6 DJM kit a few months ago and got everything I needed in advance.

I started dismantling two days ago, and I'm pretty much only working on it for four or five hours after a twelve hour shift of running a 350D and 240D.

The first day I propped it up on jack stands and blocks in the shop and got some buddies from work to help me take the cap and box off and set them on the driveway. After that I organized all my hardware and had a few wobbly pops. I sprayed all the rusted **** on the truck with WD40 and left all the stuff I was going to burn off.

On the blocks

trusty hardware table!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't want to waste any time ****ing around with rusted garbage hardware so I just burnt everything off and used a 5lb sledge and a drift to pound out the rest.

Workin' on burning off all the bolts and old bushings.

This is how it looks @ the end of the day, it's around 8:30pm and I've swept up and gotten all the **** ready for tomorrow when I get home.

The new bushings and cab mounts come tomorrow (Summit and stylintrucks are amazing, all the way to Canada in two days!) and I'll have the rear end almost ready to be flipped. I gotta pick up new ball joints, and new bearings, races and seals for the front during lunch break tomorrow.

Oh yea!! I almost forgot, I accidentally burnt through the driver side shackle and now its useless. So I was thinking I could either go to the scrap yard and get two decent shackles from a similar truck for ten bucks or something or do I spend the extra money and get drop shackles?

IF I get drop shackles do I have to change my pinion angle?

I'd like comments on whether I should go 4/7 or stick with 4/6? I plan on running 20" wheels by the end of the summer.

Thanks!

Nice work.. looks like a fun project. If you go 4/7 the stance will be lower in the back and not level.

Yea, I'll just go the scrap yard then and get another OE set.
