Re: Chrome 88 98 Factory Wheels (454ss style) Tuck?

im curious whats a decent price for these wheels? im going to junk yard tomorrow to HOPEFULLY score a set in the morning! the truck is right behind the gate and they said it would be put out in the yard tomorrow morning. im hoping to score cheap. but with my luck they will already have them off and put them inside the checkout area for more money... there listed price online is 160bucks. but some wheels they have listed for 300+
which ill go up to 300bucks but dont want to go much higher. i just want some spares and have some for winter tire use.

Re: Chrome 88 98 Factory Wheels (454ss style) Tuck?

I scored my set for $200. That's a pretty fair price. Less than $200 is a great deal. $250-300 is pushing it, but still worth it. Like you, I wouldn't go over $300.

Re: Chrome 88 98 Factory Wheels (454ss style) Tuck?

well this is with tires, tho not sure what condition tires are in. i could just view them from afar... hopefully they are balled and no one will really want them.
or hopefully ill be there right when they put the truck out in the yard with them still on the truck! i was suprised they didnt take my 200dollar offer right then but maybe ill get them cheaper by waiting if no one else scoops them up that works there!
only good thing about cash for clunkers is my area is at least parting them out before crushing them... just no good motors. this truck looks prestine condition from the angle i had! if im lucky it will be a gmc and good front grill.

I wish they were doing that here. I'd love to get my hands on some gray '95-'98 ext cab seats and door panels.

Re: Chrome 88 98 Factory Wheels (454ss style) Tuck?

got lucky and scored DIRT CHEAP. i was second person in the yard this morning and got lucky with the fork lift operator cool as hell and i asked if he would put the truck out for me and he did very promptly! i busted the lugs off and saw him drive by again and asked for a pickup to pull em out. and i had the wheels within the 1/2hour :) im very happy!!!!
only paid 80bucks for all 4, center caps and all. tires are decent but i dont think they are that great. but i have yet to really inspect the tires and wheels. i was just in such a hurry to get them off and throw them in my truck.
also got the rear stepside tailgate and full grey bench seat in great condition. only paid 150bucks for everything. great score! im just waiting for my back to feel better before i unload everything and clean it all up since its super dirty with gravel dust!

and yes it was a cash for clunkers... truck was in perfect shape!!!!!!!! only 150K miles but truck could pass for only 20K miles it is so clean!!!!! i would like to buy the trucks setside bed but thats just to much work for me at this time 125bucks would get it tho. but im sure it will sell fast. plus i just dont need it. but i can sell the tailgate for quick cash! :)

Re: Chrome 88 98 Factory Wheels (454ss style) Tuck?

ya the goverment tax dollars hard at wasting not working!
but with all the good parts at least the truck will be used on other trucks. not a total loss like some dealerships/states are doing and just straight crushing them whole.
im sure the whole front end will be off the truck.... well im sure its already gone by now.LOL they gut these gm trucks FAST here!!!!!

and i looked at my wheels and suprisingly they look to be in better shape than my current wheels! mine are rusted on the inside and these new ones look clean and im sure will shine up. so looks like im going to be swapping the tires around and put winter tires on my rusty ones on my truck now.
these tires are ALMOST gone.

and what my original inside wheels look like.... rusty. but they can clean up a bit but i will use them for winter use.

Re: Chrome 88 98 Factory Wheels (454ss style) Tuck?

Nice score Addicted2 !!!!

The first thing I did when I went to buy mines was flip them over and look for signs of rust and NADAAAA !!!!
They were nice and clean on both sides so all I did was look at the seller kinda crazy for selling them so cheap, pay him and hauled arzzzed it back to Maryland.

Now you can use your rusty set for Winter wheels and use the cleaner set for your Spring-Summer-Fall wheels or you can sell the rusty set and get back some of the cash you spent on the newer set.

Re: Chrome 88 98 Factory Wheels (454ss style) Tuck?

o well im not going to sell em. like you said im going to keep the rusty set for winter wheels with some good winter tires on them and put the best wheels on for warmer weather driving. there is a little bit of rust on the back after washing off all the gravel dust but still minor. im going to buy some of that rust converter stuff in a spray can and tape off the front of the wheels and after wire brushing the inside then spray them down and paint flat black to all 8 wheels just to be sure of a long good life.

ive been looking for spare wheels like this since i bought my truck... i want a same style spare tire so if i have a flat i wont look like a idiot with that 1 steelie.LOL and id have 2 of them to slap some good winter tires on since i already have a hard enough time in the winter with that one wheel spin on a uphill.LOL

i love these sport wheels! i swear with my old 95 truck i didnt notice this wheel style and now that i have them on my truck i keep seeing them around town but never for sale.lol
now im hooked on these wheels!!!!!

tho after cleaning up the wheels and everything.... well i lost 1 of the plastic caps sucks i swear i had them all... guess i dropped one. at least i dont need them all since this is a spare set. and now that trucks interior was fully gutted! carpet and all.lol glad i snatched my parts up early!
i love these wheels... and the fact that they tuck nicely works great with my drop! just alittle inner fender hammering and LCA trimming and it clears.

Re: Chrome 88 98 Factory Wheels (454ss style) Tuck?

i just sold my 3rd set today ;) 230bucks sold without the center caps. im very happy! i made 148bucks extra so that paid off for my first extra set of these wheels and other parts from the junk yard ;) and i also kept the center caps.
if anybody wants a set of chrome, red outlined caps i got some, but not in very good condition... some chrome plating is cracked on them. but still great for winter salt areas. ;) 23bucks shipped takes em... ill even throw in the red chevy1500 door badges.

I'd be interested in the red door badges for my red truck if they are in good shape....
Are they like this?

Re: Chrome 88 98 Factory Wheels (454ss style) Tuck?

yep they are dirty tho. i just pulled them off the truck at the junk yard so you gotta wash em off. ;)

23bucks takes them and the center caps shipped 48states ;) paypal of course.

this is the truck i took it off of.
trucks already gutted now 1 day after they put it out on the yard and i took the wheels off it. i would have took the molding also but the side molding is hell to get off plus the front and rear bumper molding was torn up wear.

I dont need the center caps so I will wait and see if the person that buys the caps wants the badges. If they dont I might want to buy them.
