you mean where to buy kits? stylinconcepts.com has them, streetbeatcustoms.com (where I purchased mine)... yahoo search: lowering kits for 4x4 applications.

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
Is belltech the only one that makes keys for a 94 k1500? Because they are $120 on stylinconcepts web site. Or will the other different year ones work from other companies? I was also wondering what was the difference between the same year tahoe keys? Because I found some on ebay for the tahoe by a company called suspension max. Any links would be helpful, best place to buy ect. Thanks
P.S. I seen on DJM's site that they now have a 3-5 drop for the 99-05 4x4's that uses lower a-arms to lower the front instead of keys. I was wandering if you could use the keys with it to get up to 6" of drop in the front? Even thow this wouldn't help me out any.

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
Hi,
i'm new here. I'm from australia and have just bought a 92 2500 4x4. I was originally planning on getting a 2wd to dump but the one i bought was too good a price to resist so i snapped it up, and now i'm planning on lowering it.
question i'm going to ask is why haven't any of you 4x4 guys considered body dropping? from looking at my chassis and body mounts, it looks like you could get the cab an easy 3-4 inches lower before you even touch the suspension. And then even with a small static drop the drive height would be pretty close to the ride height of a non body dropped bagged truck.
just a thought.
not sure what option i'm going to take yet

I'd also be interested in this possibility.
I've got a '99 tahoe (obs) 4x4 and I'm looking to get a sport truck appearence out of it, as cheaply as possible, but still retain stock ride.
uh....nevermind I thought body dropping involved removing and trimming body mounts to lower the body, not choppin' it up. I just read about body dropping in another thread.
so, basically, I'm looking for advice for the best and least expensive way to go about dropping the truck and retaining stock or close to stock ride. My dad has a slammed astro van, and it rides like a POS, and that's not what I want, I just want to make this lumbering 4x4 look cool.

there's 2 types of body drops:
- stock floor where you basically move the cab mounts and make the rails smaller to drop the cab
-traditional where you raise the floor compared to the rest of the cab so that the cab hangs over the edge.
both types aren;t going to be cheap but you get to keep stock suspension and look way lower.
from what i can gather a stock floor bodydrop is likely to set you back upwards of $4000

well, like I said, once I realized that it was an expensive option, I'm not really interested in that any longer.
If I go with a belltech drop kit, how is it going to affect the stock ride? I theory, It shouldn't affect it much, becuause I wont be changing the spring rate, just the geometry/ travel. I know it will bottom out easier, but I shouldn't have a problem if I put the proper shocks on it.

The Belltech kit works great. I dont have any issues with mine except it pushes the front wheels out a bit. If I used narrower tires I could lower he front a tad more and it could tuck, but I wanted the same tires all the way around.
The ride quality is much better than stock. The center of Gravity is much lower now and it handles great.
I honestly wasn't looking to slam the truck. I was just looking to make it sporty looking and remove some of the wheel well gap. I think it sits great.
here's the stance with th lowering kit.

lol, I JUST got done looking at your website. Nice work man. It's not quite the look I'm going for, I'd like a little more suttle, but it looks great man! Which belltech did you go with, the 3900? can you find out for me? you truck looks great man.
I'm not going to go with the huge rims, keep stock for now, then go to a 16" corvette style ralley wheel and a med profile tire.
so, how often do you bottom out? the ride isn't rough at all?

I dont bottom out too often. Usually it happens if I'm speeding and hit one of those bridge overpass ramps. You know, those big dips right at the overpass.. I installed larger bumpstops in the front so there is no damage caused by bottoming out
I used the Belltech 4x4 Lowering Kit Part Number- 3903 and 6400 rear shackles
Belltech NitroDrop Shock part Numbers
Front #7201
Rear #7502

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
hmm... quick question... I got a bellteck 3/4 lowering kit (streetbeatcustoms fY000.BEL3908-1Y) for the 4x4 appls. it's alright, but I need new shocks. It's a little off in the rear by 1/4-1/2."I haven't even looked, but what do you do to clamp the overload springs? (it's probably way easy) I want to level my back those 1/4-1/2. I do occassionally carry my raptor 660 in my truck, but it isn't too heavy since I can lift it into my truck by myself... how much weight does it affect by clamping the overload springs?

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
when i clamped my overload sping i didnt notice a change in ride difference. and it gives you about 1/2 inch. you just use a leaf spring clamp from napa or shucks and clamp at the front of the overload spring to the rest of the leaf pack

I'm not the most experienced with suspension, but IF I took out the overload spring and replaced it with a ride rite bag kit, wouldn't I be able to get that extra 3/4 - 1 inch of drop and retain my load rating??? Just wondering as I had another tahoe that got totalled that had a flip/notch with a 1" lift shackle that was about 1 1/4" lower than my new hoe with the torsion/shackle/hanger kit I have now. I would like to get that extra 1" drop if I can, but still want to be able to tow a little bit.
BTW, they are/were both 4wd.

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
so I would get another half to 3/4 inch which is better than nothing. Is it going to screw my load rating up though. I plan on getting the ride rite anyways, just wondering if I'm going to get anything extra out of the deal.

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
My tahoe that got wrecked last july had about a 3.5/5.5 drop on it with keys in front and a flip/notch and 1" lift shackle in the rear. I could have went lower in the front but I wanted it level. I never ran into any problems personally, but I also use 4wd very infrequently. I know in the little I used it, I never heard any clicking or had any problems that were something that worried me. I would have loved to do the same on my new hoe, but the cost of doing the rear just wasn't worth the extra 1.25" to me.

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
I'm doing the 3/2 drop for now and just got the rear done yeaterday(one of the bolts on the shackle was rusted so took 2 hours trying to get it out... ended up cutting old shackle to pieces) had question though I want to drop the front 3inches, how far that adjusting bolt would stick out.(or how much should I tighten.) rear looks much better but after reading this post make me wanna bagged the tahoe.. but any input helps since tis is first one I'm dropping and want to know all the words from the Experts here
BTW, my 4wd wont work so not much concerned about the 4wd use.
