4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
I want to keep a small network of the lowered 4 wheel drive guys. Seems like i see more and more questions on lowering a 4 wheel drive truck. I bagged mine, so i can help out with alot of questions people might have. I along with alot of others still have questions on things that deal with lowering a 4wd so if i knew who the memebers on the page owned lowered 4wd trucks vice veresa it would take care of alot of time alot of us might have..
SO POST UP!
my now sold bagged 4x4 383 stroker porcharger supercharger / kp 6 link / the list goes on and on.

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
The first step is basically gathering up member who own the 4wd trucks and either are lowered and want to lower, it would be super if someone could make this a sticky so it can stay on top and gather as many 4wd lowered enthusiest.
anyone who could sticky this it would be super.

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
I have always heard it is bad (t-case, tranny, drivelines, etc.)to run your 4x4 truck (4lo) on the pavement? Is this just an old wives tale or what?
Isn't Parish's truck a 4wd??This is new territory to me and it seems interesting?
When building a performance truck; AWD would be best but would 4wd work in a similar manner. I am stuck wth my 2wd but these types of things would be nice to know in the future.

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
Hey good idea... on making a 4x4 lowered sticky.... I was so lost, so I just bought the whole damn 3/4" kit from belltech and had to get new exhaust anyways, so I took it to a shop and hand them do everything for me. I like it, but the back sits like 1/4" higher than the front still. Do I have to take out a leaf or what to even this out? Drives me nuts because I see other people trucks and they look a little lower and leveler. Any ideas on this?
The pic I am going to post is a little off anyways because I was parked uneven on the sidewalk. It isn't as bad as the photo looks, but like I said the back is about 1/4" higher.
it isn't bad, but I need to get new tires so I don't rub and can put my 20's back on. I think it'll look better with bigger wheels (20's-22's?)
Any suggestions would be great

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
NORTH DAKOTA BOY
I've been waiting for people that what a 4x4 lowered for like five years. thank you god. Anywho, i have a 95 short box reg cab z/71 4x4 chevy that i've been meaning to drop and fix, i have huge plans like basically a pro touring pickup thats show quality and a twin turbo 427 ls1 based motor. But like wise i can find out where those things exists and how to do that except for lowering a 4x4 in the way i want to. I know about the torsion keys and have know about that for awhile but if you ask me torsion bars on any pickups are a joke 2 or 4 wheel drive. They simply don't handle as good as a conventional coil-over susupension like you see in all race applications and domestic vehilces including the new 07' tahoes. thats why i want to find out a way to make a 4x4 pickup like mine handle like an 06' corvette, or as close as possible and i know torsion bars won't do the trick or any parts you just buy off the shelf. I really liked how that guy bagged and lowered that one truck and was wondering how easy that really is and if a coil-over would be just as easy. But anywho its nice to know people want to do this and i hope anyone that reads this could help me out in anyway possible to create a new coil-over front suspension in my 4x4 truck. thanks

Tube frame.... completely custom suspension... then you might be in the ballpark of a vette... and you could have bought a new vette cheaper...
But, if you got the cash... anythings possible...

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
Hey Guys,
I can't get answers anywhere else so I'll jump into this thread. I just put bell tech shackles on my Burb. I cranked the torsion bar keys down as low as they would go (but still have the screw holding the key as per the linked instructions) and the front still sits a little high. Can I use the GM 'purple' keys or should I look to the DJM keys? I'm looking to keep this really cheap for now. Thanks for the help!

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
Hi everyone,
I posted this over at gmfullsize and only got 1 response, so i'll post it here too. I am trying to get 8" of drop out of a 2500HD ONLY WHEN PARKED. I know this cannot be done and drive it that low. It seems like a lot of you guys have 5" of static drop (or at least drive it lowered 5") so whats another 3" if its parked? From a response on gmfullsize, I am pretty sure it can be done, its just a matter of replacing some components. In particular, I need to keep the stock spindles, so I need all 8" to come from the suspension.
I see two potential problems.
1. CV Tripod joint plunges to the point it bottoms out or extends to far and falls out of the cup
2. Top CA outer ball joint binds. I figure this can be fixed with a uniball, or even better, high misalignment joint, but where can I find one? I found the Cone ball joints that seem pretty sweet, but I don't think theyll fit my spindle without modification.
What do you think? Is it possible? What about the two potential problems above? Any potential problem I am missing?

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
I've been thinking about dropping my 94 fullsize blazer. Couple questions though.
1) Is it going to affect snow performance?
2) Am I going to need new driveshafts?
3) Can I get away with stock rims, just a smaller tire?
4) How hard/how long does the install take?

Re: 4x4 lowered / bagged owners check in.
I got to say this is a great sticky!! It should be made into its own catagory on the main page. I have a 2000 Z71 that will be getting dropped 3/4 in hopefully a few months thanks to this info. Keep up all the great info guys.
