06 Silverado 4wd ECSB lowering clarification...
Hey fellas, i read all seven pages of threads here and am pretty sure what i may attempt, but just wanted a little clarification.
1.) I can lower my torsion keys up front for suttle lowering - clarification - any issues or ride difference? softer cornering?
2.) I can remove my rear blocks for 2"drop - do i need shorter u-bolts?
3.) Lastly, can someone who's done only what i'm looking to do post some pics of this suttle drop. Preferably an ext. cab like mine. But any pics for visual reference will help.

Re: 06 Silverado 4wd ECSB lowering clarification...
Here's the best picture that I have right now. However, my truck is lowered 4" inches in the rear instead of the 2" you will achieve by removing the 4x4 blocks. I'll try to get some better one's later.
The 2wd U-bolts can be purchased at www.gmpartsdirect.com They're part # 15002781
4x4 Blocks: To remove the 4x4 blocks correctly, jack up the truck by the frame, not the rear axle. Once lifted high enough you should be able to just knock the blocks out of where they sit. Replace the u-bolts with the newer u-bolts. You will also need to disconnect the rear shocks while doing this.
Torsion Bars: The bolts to lower these are located right under the truck, parallel to the driver and passenger door handles. I believe the bolts are 11/16". 7 full turns counter-clockwise will lower the truck 1". It's easiest to do 28 quarter turns with the ratchet instead of 7 full turns.
You will NEED to cut the stock bumpstops in half. This can be achieved by using a Sawzall or just a regular hack saw.
Here's a picture of the leaf springs after the 4x4 block removal.
Trimmed bumpstops
Torsion bars
A good way to check if the left and right torsion bars are the same height is to measure the distance between the tire and the fender.
If you have any questions, just ask.

How low are you now? I'm thinking about going from this 2"/4" to 4"/6". Did you have any problems?
The stock 4x4 block is 2".

Silverado 13,
Thank you!! That's what i call an answer to a question(s)!! Great pics and details as well. Did you use lowering shackles as well to get the extra 2" drop in the rear? And did you do anything else to the front besides loosening your torsion bolts? Truck looks great by the way, love the wheels. What size/kind are those?

Poopskidz, feel free to still post some pics. I would still like to see what it looks like in the rear with only block removal only.

Yes, I used 2" lowering shackles in the back that I bought from Summit for $50. The front end is lowered 2" just on the stock torsion bars. The wheels are stock Nissan Titan 18s that I bought from Craigslist for $100 with tires.

Re: 06 Silverado 4wd ECSB lowering clarification...
Talk about falling into a good deal!! I'm gonna order the bolts and try it out. If I don't like it, it'll be easy enough to raise back up. Do you have any side pics w/ your wheel on? I like the titan wheels.

Re: 06 Silverado 4wd ECSB lowering clarification...
When you buy the u-bolts make sure that you purchase FOUR (4) separate u-bolts. Otherwise, you'll receive a box with one u-bolt in it and then you have to buy 3 more...

The picture in my sig is just with 2" shackles. So... yea... That's what it would look like without the 4x4 blocks.
