Re: noob to lowered 4x4s....

I know with the rear that the 2wd suspension stuff works with ours as well. Quick way for 4" would be to remove the blocks and get 2wd u bolts and use 2" drop shackles. For the front they have lowering keys that can be used for 2" of drop. I read somewhere that there is a 4/6 out there for the OBS 4x4's.

Re: noob to lowered 4x4s....

Remove 2" block in the rear, get 2wd u bolts like mentioned, get 2" drop shackle and shorter shocks. Or do a 6" flip kit.
Front you can get 3/4 ton keys and they will allow you to lower your truck more and get 2" drop spindles.

Re: noob to lowered 4x4s....

do the "purple" keys work on OBS truck? they are indexed differently, like you dont need "green" or ford keys to lift them. would the same hold true for lowering? how far can you go down on stock OBS keys?

Re: noob to lowered 4x4s....

You can't get drop spindles for his truck... OBS 4wd...

Lowering keys up front can get you at about 3-4" of drop from everything I've been told and seen. This, along with decent shocks is the route I'm looking at for my front. Rear, I'm looking at springs.

Re: noob to lowered 4x4s....

If it had blocks out back OEM, then you'd have to get shorter U-bolts.

Re: noob to lowered 4x4s....

Well then Your only option would be hangers and shackles. Hangers can be a PITA sometimes though. From what I have read it is usually easier to just remove the bed.

Re: noob to lowered 4x4s....

I have an obs tahoe with the mcgauheys kit. Front keys, rear is shackles, hangers, removed overload springs, and air shocks. Sits perfect with the new tahoe 20's on 245/50/20 tires. The front will go as low as you want. I can crank mine down until it rests on bumpstops and the valance is about 3 inches from the ground. I run about 2-2.5 inch clearance over the front tire and 1 inch over the rear. Still tow an enclosed 6x14 with 2 street bikes and lots of tools and equipment(3500 lbs) with a generator mounted on the tongue all the time with no problems.
