c notch question

seen tons of threads but im wondering whats the lowest drop i can get away without a c notch on a 2500 obs crew cab.i tow about 10k behind it via a gooseneck so i dont really want to cut up the bed.

id like to do a flip seeing as how we are converting it to dually and that would be easy to do before we put the dana 70 in.

Re: c notch question

I think you need a notch for 6". Since you're hauling a goose, I'd say you'd be safe with 3".

Re: c notch question

From what i believe us 4x4 guys can go 6" without a notch as we sit 2" higher in the rear then a 2wd. So a 6" rear drop on a 4x4 is the same as a 4" drop on a 2wd and they dont need a notch for a 4". I would also consider helper bags in the rear as well.

Re: c notch question

Well if its an 88-98 truck then i assume the keys are the same as the half tons because the factory keys will max it out to the bump stops easily. Therefore you can get some late model stock keys from any HD and that will drop the front. As far as the rear goes flippin the rear runnin a d70 you will more than likely have to do some bed trimming underneath. But when you notch the frame since you plan on hauling so much I would add extra cross braces between the rails because that notch will be your weak point to kink!!
