Re: OBS Stock Floor Body-Drop how-to....lay that rocker
hope nobody minds if i post my pics up.
My expected/unexpected headaches so far.
1. steering shaft wants to go through the frame.
2. passenger side exhaust manifold = reallllllly tight fit, watch how you modify that frame.
3. leave room for lower radiator hose
4. mechanical fan is not even worth putting back on, I just got a flex-a-lite black magic.
5. Trans tunnel had to be raised on the firewall itself, I thought you only needed to raise inside the cab.
6. Making an exhaust with a cat and muffler and squeezing it under a bodydrop chassis is quite a task
7. tapping holes in a boxed frame is tiresome
8. its pretty easy to modify the stock trans x-member, if you dont want to make a brand new one.
Other than that, everything is going smooth. I have taking my cab on and off down to a 2 minute process, literally... Air truck up, put jackstands under cab, lay truck out. The truck doesnt have a battery at the moment, and I have learned that you can use a 9V battery to operate selonoid vales, LMAO.

Re: OBS Stock Floor Body-Drop how-to....lay that rocker
what size of drop is actually needed to lay rocker? 2.5", 2.75, 3" i guess i could go out and measure mine, but i'm not too sure my body mounts are where theyre suppose to be right now... and do you have to loose your heater box when SFBD?

Re: OBS Stock Floor Body-Drop how-to....lay that rocker
i went 2 3/4". Its getting shimmed up to about 2.5" which is perfect for laying rocker. I am running 255/45/17's and do not have to tub the firewall, and the heat is staying. If you are all about the big rollers, you will need to ditch the heat or relocate the box when you tub the firewall. You can lay rocker on a 255/35/20 tire though without tubbing the firewall. The firewall will need a little massage though.

Re: OBS Stock Floor Body-Drop how-to....lay that rocker
Anyone have any info on some how reusing the rear section of the frame? Reason I ask is cause I have a 6 link and don't want to redo the suspension.

Re: OBS Stock Floor Body-Drop how-to....lay that rocker
you don't have to touch the rear section of the frame if you don't want to. you just have to tie the 2x4 into the frame right behind the cab. It has no affect on where your 6 link bolts to.

the bed floor essentially stays in the same place. You section 3" out of the inner bed sides/front wall and lower the outer panels only. You dont do anything with the frame in the back
