Specify you want the '06 airdam when you order, it will fit your truck and is black like you want. The wiring for the switch is already there. You'll have to run the harness in the kit from the airdam to the fuse box under the hood.

Re: Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

ok i have a question it might be a crazy one. but i have an 04 Chevy silverdo and im wanting to put on fog lights. factory preferred what im having problems with is just getting the wiring harness. i have the lights and the switch itself. but im getting told from a whole bunch of people. that i would have to buy a brand new engine wiring harness so i could buy the kit to make the fog lights connect. or i would have to buy a whole brand new front end lighting harness that would include for the headlights and fog lights.

but im wondering how do you hook up the factory fog lights isnt it just runned to the fuse box itself. and then runned to the switch not having to hook up with the headlight system. i really would appreciate some advice for i do anything. dont want to make the wrong move and get screwed

The harness that comes in that kit, I assume it is running down to the fogs for power?

hey colby, you saying you have the kit for the fog lights but you already have the wiring harness. installed in your truck. when you bought the truck. what all came with the kit that you got? just out of curiousity.

The kit comes with lights, valance, switch, harness, relay and hardware pack.
Once it's all installed you may or may not need to have your BCM programmed at the dealer.

Re: Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

I had to use the harness that came with the kit. There were no wires for the lights. The fuse was there, but not the relay. Relay came with the kit.

YMMV.

Re: Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

Has anybody installed this kit on an 05-06 GMC? It looks like you have to cut holes in the airdam. An airdam doesn't come in the kit and the stock one is color matched. I'm just wondering if anybody has done it and can shed some light on the subject. Heck, even a copy of the installation instructions would be fine.

The GMC and Chevrolet front bumpers are not the same

EDIT: The actual fog light housing is different too.

Re: Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

I was referring to the GMC kit listed on page 1, PN 12498351. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

Charles,

I bought a kit off of Ebay for my 03 GMC Sierra WT. I did not buy the other lower bumper panel but just cut the openings in the stock panel. I used a razor knife and a cutoff wheel and it worked pretty good. I do have a mid-rise lift so I wan't exactly rolling around on the ground when i did it.

Re: Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

Wade, is the rough edge that is left from cutting out the openings visible when the foglights are installed?

Re: Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

You say yours is color matched? It still has the endented area where the lights go, right?
Thinking back, I cleaned the edge up pretty good I guess. I may have used the heat gun to warm the plastic a bit to make it easier to cut with the razor knife. You wouldn't know it wasn't factory from more than 3 feet away. Mine is 2wd, so it's not right up in someone's line of sight.

Re: Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

Mine is indeed red like the body. Did the instructions specify that you were supposed to cut the foglight holes open, or did they suggest buying the correct airdam?

Re: Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

The instructions that I got were for the mechanic to remove the bumper and cut the holes out.
