Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

Warning from Mark added by Bob T 2/3/2007: "Word of advice... If you are planning on buying a new 2007+ Silverado and prefer foglamps and think you can just add them in later. You'd better get them when you buy the truck. GM has made it nearly impossible to add foglamps if the truck did not come with them."

Mark knows this stuff. I added it to help keep people from reading my article and getting burned. Bob T

Some folks asked about this; finally figured out how to photobucket and link.

Ordered the kit at the dealer, part number (I lost it). $155. Thought I would have to cut out the fog light holes in the air dam, but it came with an air dam.

Contents: Fog/cargo light switch to replace cargo light switch in dash.
2 Fog Lights
Harness
Relay
4 bolts, four clip nuts
Cable clips
Instruction sheet in English and French
Air dam with push pin fasteners

That includes the airdam, right? Also, can you get the little clips that hold the wire loom in place?

Re: Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

Mine came with the little clips. It also came with the air dam, but I don't think it was supposed to; the dam was listed seprately. Still looking for the p/n. I feel a lot better now that my writeup is getting some attention. I was all depressed, thinking about taking refuge in drugs, alcohol, and unconventional sex.

Yes this includes the deflector. It is part of hte kit. If you price this sutff out seperately you will be well over $400. As far as I know, the clips come with the wire loom. The foglamp kit that does not come with the airdam is the 02 Chevy. Probably because most of their airdams come with foglamp holes cutout or ready to cutout.

Re: Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

Since the trucks without fogs have indentations where the fog lights would be has anyone tried to cut the hole and mount the fog lenses there?

Re: Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

Does anyone have the instructions that came with the kit, and if so, can they be Posted
for reference?
I bought all the separate parts, but I'm missing the harness, it seems GM does not sell it separate from the kit, unless you purchase the complete front harness for several hundred $$$.
Thanks

Thumbs up Re: Installing factory fog lights, '04 silverado

Well I recieved the kit from Mark, and followed the directions and ended up doing it exactly like the thread. The only difference is I painted the airdam black prior to ptting it on. I didn't need to program my bcm either. Thanks to all, Bob
