Re: Disable Your Daytime Running lights AND Auto Headlights OBS!!!

I know on the S-10's and Sonoma's there is a button labeled "dome overide" on the dash. If you press it four times your DSL's will turn off. I figured with that the bigger trucks would have some sort of overide via a pattern of buttons pressed in the righr order.... if not the same thing

Re: Disable Your Daytime Running lights AND Auto Headlights OBS!!!

I have the dome override button on my '97 Tahoe and it doesn't seem to work that way. In my friend's 2001 blazer, yes it worked. But it doesn't seem to do it in my OBS Tahoe.

Re: Disable Your Daytime Running lights AND Auto Headlights OBS!!!

If you press the dome override four times in my 01 Silverado, the lights will go out, but you must do it every time you start the engine.

Re: Disable Your Daytime Running lights AND Auto Headlights OBS!!!

You could just do what I did and run your truck into a big ass rock

Had to replace the bumper but other than that no other damage.
The DTRL have not worked since though.

I was wondering if it was possible to disable the amber parking lights untill i need them for the blinker? If anyone could tell me know how to do this it would be greatly appreciated

Although, I still need to pull the indicator bulb, that thing is annoying.

You might what to check if that is illegal or not, but all you have to do is cut one each of the bulb wires itself. I cant quite remember witch one it is off hand, but that will shut it off. You could also throw a switch in the loop and disable it that way, then the cops wont freak out when u drive it on the street.

Re: Disable Your Daytime Running lights AND Auto Headlights OBS!!!

Pulled fuse 15 on the dealer lot when I bought my 98 1500. Hate DRLs, so it was an easy decision for me. No automatic lights, so everything functions as it should.

10 years on the original headlights and happy with that fact and money savings :). The ironic thing is that green DRL light is still burning, I keep waiting for it to burn out (my radio lights have mostly) after driving nearly 200K miles, LOL.

Thanks for posting the info :).

Do you do this with the vehicle in accessory? I followed the instructions from the manual on my '00 Hoe (New Body) and nothing works... ready to pull out my hair... everytime I hit a bump, one or both of my HID lights go out and I can't reset the lights by using the switch because of the auto light feature... any help is appreciated!!!!

No doubt. Can't see buttons at night. Some passengers ask me what that green light is, I tell them it's the law enforcement proximity indicator, as long as it's green I can exceed the speed limit.

In my 2001 the ignition has to be on. I press override 3 times to have manual control of headlights. Sometimes I like to run just the fog lights and parking lights only. Turning ignition off puts it back to factory (automatic) setting. Of course the key passes through OFF on the way to ACC.

Just curious...so you're driving along, hit a bump and light(s) go off. Have you tried override right then and turning headlight switch on? Do you have switch on to begin with or let auto sensor turn on lights when dark?

BTW my 2001's DRLs are not the headlights, some other light underneath, haven't cared enough to figure out if they're also the turn signals or parking lamps.

Re: Disable Your Daytime Running lights AND Auto Headlights OBS!!!

What year tahoe do you have? My 97 has a relay under the dash in the fuse panel. I was going to jumper across and then pull the fuse. When the relay is unenergized it puts power from the DRL module to the headlights. When its energized the headlight switch powers the headlights. All this could have been replaced by running the headlights off the ignition switch.

Just waiting for my ADHD to lead me to actually do it.
